What amazes me is in our confessions to God, our sins are purged. God doesn’t take his time but cleanses us and takes away all the shame and guilt. This happens when we least expect it and are often amazed at the outcome. We simply come before Him in our humility, in need of a Savior, and he does the rest. We admit that we are not worthy and need God to help us. This is when a transformation takes place and we are truly changed. Even Isaiah was so humble as to admit that he was unclean. Now his experience with the Lord and the angels may be far greater than we will ever experience but still, in that moment, he did not feel like he fit in. He 1“then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.” How amazing is this? He was in the midst of the Lord God Himself and a holy angel was able to cleanse his sins through a live coal, that was on an altar. Wow! Surely, God loves us so much as for us to not feel unclean anymore. He welcomes us in whole heartedly and, therefore, takes away all our shame and guilt and allows us in His presence. It was then that Isaiah was at peace and was able to embrace the moment.
Since the Lord God knew of Isaiah’s intentions and desires to serve Him, above all, he was able to see a heavenly vision. Though, in the beginning, he felt very uncomfortable, because of his sins, he felt much better when his sins were purged. He no longer said that he shouldn’t be there, for the Lord God made him welcome. Let us now take in the rest of what he saw. In the beginning, this is what happened. He said 1“I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.” This person, that the seraphims glorified and called holy is Jesus. And once Isaiah’s sins were cleansed, the Lord said, 1“whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” It was then that Isaiah 1“said I, Here am I; send me.” Then the Lord said unto Him, “go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.” He told him many other things and what he should do next. Now Isaiah’s response is wonderful. He said, 1“Lord, how long?” and then, he did as he was instructed. He got his calling from God and went for it. This is what a born again person does. They are redeemed and then do God’s will.
Let us pray:
Lord, I know that the times that I feel unworthy of Your presence, I may not feel like I deserve You, but You come into my life anyways. And with my confessions, You cleanse me of my sins. This is when my shame and guilt, that I’ve kept inside for all that time, is now undone. Because You have come and purged me of my sins, I am able to refocus upon You and Your will. There is nothing that is stopping me any longer, for my guard is up and You are with me. I then know that I need You more than ever. I truly am a sitting duck and will easily fall victim to temptation without Your presence, ever so in my life. I am dead without You, but are alive in Your love. When You come and resurrect my soul, I am able to stand up and walk in faith again. It is, however, my own fault when I forget You and fall flat on my face, while giving into the lusts of the flesh. In these moments I feel so down and distraught. I feel like I have given up everything. I am so glad, however, that You don’t give up on me. You continue to reach Your hand of mercy out to me, that my sins may be cleansed. Even if it is again and again, You do it because You love me. Thank You for never forsaking me. I trust in You, Lord. I love You. Amen.
