God’s Stance On Tattoos: Part 2

When it comes to printing tattoos upon ourselves or not, I would rather refer to God for this answer than men who will lead us astray. And for this reason, we will search the scriptures, to know what is God’s will on this topic. Speaking of God, He told Moses and the people of Israel, ¹“ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:28) In this short sentence, we learn the people were printing tattoos upon themselves that referred to people who have died and other marks upon their bodies. However, God’s response to them was to not do this anymore. And why do you think God said this? It is because we are the light of the world. Cutting ourselves causing darkness to enter our lives and you can see this among people who are tattooed. The light of Jesus has left them. And it is Jesus who said, ²“ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16) When we put tattoos and other markings on our bodies, we are essentially covering God’s temple, which is our body, with markings of this world. And since God is not of this world, these markings cause us to draw further away from God. Therefore, I tell people to remove them, that God’s light may return.

Speaking of people who cut themselves and get tattoos, these people are often filled with demons in their lives. It is these demonic forces that make it very hard to break free from addiction. The reason being that once demons are a part of a person’s life, their clutches are also in them. Only through the power of God can a person be delivered from these evil forces. Now, speaking of demons, the following is written about a person who cut himself and was possessed by demons. Mark wrote, ³“and they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.” (Mark 5:1-5) This man was later delivered from his demons, where the demons were cast into a swarm of pigs, who then killed themselves. So in summary, cutting ourselves can cause demons and darkness to enter our lives. Therefore, as Christians, we vow to not do these things, that the light of Jesus will not be covered. It is my prayer that you will allow God to take you by the hand and change you from within.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will desire to be set free from every evil force in their lives. If anything is keeping them from Your presence and doing Your will, come and convict them of their sins and false beliefs, that they may start making the necessary changes in their lives. I know that the day that I got rid of all my UFO TV Shows from my DVD collection that there was a big sense of relief. Many other things have also been removed from my life like most TV and movies, including violent video games and even pornography. All this I owe to You, Jesus. I don’t even care to watch TV anymore, for I would rather seek Your hand, gain more understanding, and then go out and make a difference in this world. How could I still be a slave to sin, if You have come and set me free? The answer is that I cannot do things that are evil and still feel good about myself. You have put a new spirit in me and even now can I see who is in darkness and who is in your light. Surely, people with piercings all over their bodies are far from You. Even people who have put tattoos on their bodies have drawn attention to themselves, although it is evil in Your sight and ours. Surely, we can see that people have made a poor choice to defile their bodies, which is Your holy temple, and they are not yet sorry for what they have done. If they were, then they would do something about their piercings and tattoos. Lord, bring a conviction to these people in sin and lead them to a new way of life, where You are leading them and not the world. I love You. Your ways lead to eternal life. Take me by the hand and lead me all my days. I give You praise and honor. Amen.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.
