“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” (Revelation 21:2-3)
There is a teaching that New Jerusalem will be built before the coming of the Lord Jesus. This is a teaching that denies what the Bible says about the city coming down from heaven. So if Revelation 21 plainly teaches that the city would come down from heaven, why would people harken unto a person that says it must be built. This really boggles my mind and leads to a lot of red flags. You must ask yourself, who are these people trusting in? It cannot be God, but people who claim to be prophets. It is heresy to say that new Jerusalem will need to be built. These heretics are denying what the Bible says about the city coming down as a bride adorned for her husband. So what is this false religion who believe that New Jerusalem must be built? It is the people of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. This has been taught since the beginning of their church foundation with Joseph Smith. He started this lie, and it continued as a teaching throughout the last 200 years+ of their church history. But it gets stranger than this. Joseph Smith said that he would personally be part of the building of New Jerusalem and dedicate it also. See below for details…
“A revelation of Jesus Christ unto his servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and six elders, as they united their hearts and lifted their voices on high. Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the restoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his prophets, and for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem. Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased. Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation.” (Doctrines and Covenants 84:2-4)
There are two problems when looking into this. Number one, Joseph Smith prophesied that he would dedicate the city of New Jerusalem with the building of a temple in the state of Missouri. This never happened. Number two, Joseph Smith prophesied that the New Jerusalem would be built before the coming of the Lord. This will not happen. It makes me wonder if he or other so-called prophets in Mormonism ever read the verse in revelation 21:1. If so, why would they deny what it says? You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that New Jerusalem will not be built, but come down from heaven and onto the earth. So what should Christians do with this information? Share it with the Mormon people, of course. It would open their eyes to their false teachings, which include their false prophets. And lastly, what should Mormons do with this information? They should allow it to prick their hearts. I am taking about really thinking this over and no longer believing in everything a so-called prophet tells them. There is hope for the Mormon people. Jesus is waiting to receive them if they would simply deny themselves and their false teachings, and follow Him. Amen.
