Requirements To Enter Heaven

According To the Bible, there is one requirement to enter heaven. It is through our faith in Christ that we are saved.12

I am not talking about dead faith, but faith that is alive. Every true believer in Jesus is compelled to do the following…
Note: Their associated scripture references have a number.

  10. Forgive One Another1
  11. Have Fruits Of The Spirit In Your Life11

  13. Know Jesus2,14
  14. Lose Your Life For Christ6,8,11,13
  15. Love God and your neighbor (Keep The Commandments)14,15

Please look at the list above and see if you are truly a Christian and are right with God. Also, read the verses below that pertain to each one of them and think about each requirement in general. You will know right away if you are ready to die today, based on each item mentioned above. Sure, these things may seem like a long laundry list of things to do, in order to be saved, however it is not the case at all. Let me explain:

When we love the Lord Jesus and have faith in Him all of these things naturally become a part of our lives. As we give our lives to Christ, He is able to transform us. In our confessions, we tell Jesus that we need Him and are sorry for our sins. God then hears our cries and we are forgiven by His blood, so we forgive others also. By allowing the Lord to come into our lives, through the Spirit, we are born again. Because of this new lifestyle, we naturally follow Jesus and are then baptized. We do His will, because we love Him. There are then fruits of the Spirit in our lives, that people do notice, which are God’s blessings upon us. This leads us to walk in His light and do His will. Even His commandments are met, for we love the Lord with all our hearts and our neighbors as ourselves. His love flows into our lives and influences everyone that we meet. Therefore, it becomes who we are to help those in need. We don’t willfully sin, in order to not quench the Spirit and to always have the Lord with us. To follow Him and to serve Him is our greatest joy of all. Seeking to know Him, in His Word and prayer, and then doing as He says brings us joy. This faith in Christ is what leads us on the right path. We are not ashamed of Jesus but will whole heartedly proclaim Him to anyone that will hear.

So you can see, the requirements I mentioned above is simply defining a Christian life. It is our faith in Christ that allows God to move within us to help us live differently. Sure, we are very different than those people of this world but are oh so happy to be on the Lord’s side, who saves. And this is because we desire to live for Jesus and not be partakers of what is evil. We’ve already been down that road and know that it only leads to guilt and sorrow. As believers, we come to Jesus in prayer often. We need His presence, in order to live a fruitful life. With the Lord in our lives, there is light and light abundant. This leads us to hate sin but still love the sinner. If God moves inside of us and tells us to share the gospel with someone, we listen. We don’t ignore God’s promptings, for He is our Father and God of all. He knows much better than we do for our lives and we trust in Him for that reason. The Lord is our Shepherd and will lead us safely home. So please don’t think that living a Christian life is hard. It is the opposite. We find the greatest joy of all, living for Christ. If you are not saved and are not ready to die, then give your life to Christ today. This is the greatest decision you will ever make.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that more people will be saved and enter Your kingdom. I know that I have come a long ways from knowing You, but You have drawn me in and now my love for You is greater than ever. My life has been transformed into Your love. This is what I pray for everyone that reads this prayer. Lord, help them be convicted of their sins, that You may also draw them out of their wicked lifestyle, they are currently in. Then, help them understand their need for a Savior and come to You fully, Jesus. Hear their confessions and forgive them their sins. Lead them out of temptation and into Your light. Poor upon them the Holy Spirit. Allow Your love to come over them, that it might also overflow into other people’s lives. May their love for You burn inside of them, that they will follow You, even unto the ends of this earth. I pray that these new believers will have these new desires to serve and be served by You. Then, will they find peace in this life and look to You, come death. Thank You Lord. You are my delight, and I pray that many others will also follow You. I love You. Amen.

Let us read the Bible:

1Matthew 6:9-15 (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

2Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

3Matthew 10:32-34 (KJV)
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

4Matthew 25:31-46 (KJV)
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

5Luke 6:46-49 (KJV)
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

6Luke 9:23-26 (KJV)
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

7John 3:1-7 (KJV)
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

8John 12:25-37 (KJV)
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

9Acts 2:37-41 (KJV)
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

10Romans 10:9-13 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

11Galatians 5:19-27 (KJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

12Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

131 John 1:5-10 (KJV)
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

141 John 2:1-5 (KJV)
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

15Revelation 22:11-14 (KJV)
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

  1. Hi Paul:
If it were true that faith in Jesus is absolutely necessary for salvation, then Satan has defeated God, hands down, throughout all the ages: currently there are only 2.4 billion Christians out of a total world population of 7.8 billion people. In fact, the ‘righteous,’ in your own Matthew 25:37–39 quote, never knew who the “Son of Man” was and still they were saved. It seems that the only requirement for salvation is your last one: namely, to love God and neighbor; as also attested by your own quotes: Matthew 7:22 and Luke 6:46.

  4. Thank you for your web site. It is very informative about the Mormons. Look at the first book which is 1 Nephi verse 2. The BOM says that Moses spoke to the waters of the Red Sea and they divided. God’s Word the Holy Bible says that Moses stretched out his staff and the water divided. Now who’s testimony are you going to believe? Moses who was there and did this miracle of God and who wrote the first 5 books which are called: The Pentateuch or are you going to believe the BOM which Satan wrote.
