When God does good things in our lives, we ought to sing to Him. This is the type of worship that the Lord desires from His people. We do this because He has saved us. This type of lifestyle change causes a person to see God in everything they do. So if we are spared from a bad accident, make it out of an accident, are able to get out of harm’s way, overcome an addiction or bad habit, and many other things, we ought to sing a song unto the Lord and give Him thanks in prayer. In Exodus, chapter 15, Israel was rescued from the attack of the Egyptians and they knew it was God that saved them. For this reason, Moses and the people sang songs of praise to the Lord, our God. It is written, “then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.” (Exodus 15:1-3)
That song of praise continues and reads, “pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.” (Exodus 15:4-7) There is much more in this song and I hope you will continue to read this chapter in order to know all the lyrics. As for me, I will sing to the Lord God who has saved my soul from hell. I was lost in my wayward sinful life, but then God snatched me away from that bad environment the moment I gave my life to Him in prayer. So now I can see God in everything I do. Although I fall at times to sin, He comes and picks me back up. His mercy endures forever. God is my strength and my high tower. He is my deliverer and my fortress during the good times and bad times in life. I rejoice in God, my Savior. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, it is a joy to sing praises to Your holy Name. I would not be where I am today without You in my life. Thank You for saving me from a life of sin. I was on a path of destruction before You came and snatched me out of it. You heard my cries and placed me on Your straight and narrow path that leads to heaven. You are so good to me although I don’t deserve it. Surely, You could have cast me out of Your sight a long time ago, but Your patience endured as long as I had breath. Thank You for never giving up on me. I felt so wretched inside because of all my many sins and needed to know that You still cared for me. And the moment I cried out to You, You came and put Your arms all around me. I felt Your embrace and it was so warm. I wish I could have stayed in that moment forever. At that time, I knew that things would be better and that I had nothing to fear but fear itself. Thank You for saving me, Lord. You have redeemed my soul and made me clean through Your blood. I owe everything to You, God. Come and abide with me all the rest of my days and the life to come. I am Yours. I love You. Amen.
