We need to always be on our toes and watch those around us to see if they are in the faith. So many people appear good on the outside but are filthy on the inside. Even church leaders may appear as if they are for God but really they are only there to collect a paycheck. Peter teaches, 3“there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” This is important to note. These people teach things that are not biblical and are therefore blaspheming God. Even be so bold as to check what your pastor teaches and if it goes against the Word of God then approach them about it. Then if they still don’t see there error but the Bible teaches otherwise, then flee from that church. Peter goes on to say that 3“through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you.” They have your attention insomuch that you pay tithes and offerings, though there heart isn’t truly in it for God. Peter talks about the outcome of these false teachers, 3“whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” They will not escape the wrath of God in judgement. Because they have led so many people astray they will be accountable for this. Their punishment will be swift as they are thrown into hell.
To follow false teachers that appear righteous, and know they are wrong in your heart is evil. Only Satan desires that you stay in a place where people’s ears are being tickled but the Word of God is being silenced. So many pastors teach and preach from the Bible but only few teach everything. 1So many people deny that the Bible speaks against homosexuality, though it does in many places. 2The Word of God even states that these people will not inherit the kingdom of God. So if people are teaching against God’s Word than it is the words of men and not God. The sad thing is, so many people are led astray by this. This is just one teaching that denies the doctrines of Christ but there are many other things, including teachings on baptisms for the dead and becoming gods. It is important to seek the guidance of God and not be led astray. There is a warning to anyone not abiding in the doctrine of Christ. 4“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” Know this, even though a teaching may seem wonderful and even make you feel good, it doesn’t mean that it is right. It you aren’t reading the Bible often and praying to God for answers you may very well be led astray and not even know it to be true until judgement. Come to God that you may know His truths.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, lead us to Your truths and not man’s words. Give us guidance that we may see through the man or woman to know if what they are teaching is of You. Open our eyes that we may know what is false and what is true. I wish to follow You above all men. Lead me out of harm’s way. May false teachers not have any influence over me. Let me know right through them when they deny Your words. When they skip over scriptures in order to teach a specific doctrine let this be known. Give me boldness to point this out to people that are in the wrong. Give me enough confidence in Your words as to point out Your truths. Your Words are true. If any preacher teaches from Your words, may they have the Holy Spirit with them that they not be influenced by their own ideas but You. Lord, I want less of me and more of You. May it always be Your words and not mine. I love You more. Amen.
