As Christians, We Are Different

As Christians, we are set free from worldly passions and are born again in the Spirit. Therefore, we are different. We are not conformed to the world any longer but are now in God’s will. Our interests are not in what the world offers, but what God offers us. Even our conduct is now much different than other people, for our love for God is on display for everyone to see. And if there be people in need, we are ready to help them. There is no sin that dwells in our lives, for we have given it all to God. This may seem far out there for some people, but really it is a way of life when the Lord Jesus has a place in our everyday life. I am not talking about once a week at church, but each day of the week we come to the Lord in prayer, in His Word (the Bible), and in doing good works that He prepares for us. This is the life that brings us joy and also keeps us on the path of righteousness, which God has set before those that love Him. My friends, this way of life is different from those people that only want pleasure in the moment. Namely, people who want the newest phones to be happy. People who can’t wait for marriage to have sexual relations, but want it now. People who aren’t willing to live in God’s holiness, for lust has taken them over into looking at pornography. Sure, drinking, doing drugs, and using foul language is often seen from people of the world also. So let not these things even be counted among you. Instead, let God take you out of a lifestyle such as this and place you on his path, which leads to heaven. Anything else leads to destruction and must be rid of in our lives, in order to be saved. You see, salvation comes when we listen to Jesus and then does as He commands our lives.

Now, if you are wondering if what I said is Biblical, then please read the following verses from Romans 12. It says, 1“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” (Romans 12:1-3) 1“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer.” (Romans 12:9-12) 1“Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:20,21) My friends, what I’ve taught you comes from this chapter. It may be hard to imagine, but being called a Christian really means that you are now living for Jesus. Every person that comes unto Him, He transforms their lives, while bringing them out of a life of sin and into His glorious light. We can now walk soberly, as the Spirit of God leads us on the path that saves. Everything that is good comes from God, which brings us happiness. Now please think about this. God bless you.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, help us live a life that is pleasing in Your sight and not our own. Help mold us and shape us into the person that You wish we would become and not what we think is right. Take us out of a life of sin and transform us through the Holy Spirit. We come to You in all our confessions, that You would redeem us from our sins and wash us clean. Cleanse us in Your blood, that we may walk blameless and holy in Your sight. Our desires are not to be conformed to the world any longer but only do as You would direct our lives. Help us get on Your path of righteousness and not fall off it. We need You near us each day so that we can stay strong in the faith and not have to worry about the enemy taking us down. Temptations will come, but with Your shield, we can come out victorious. Lord, I know that this new life is not all about me, but what I can do for Your kingdom. The Holy Spirit has shown me that loving others is the best thing I can do in life. This shows that I do love You when I love my neighbor as myself. You have taught me that giving is better than receiving. It is also better to pray for one another than praying my own needs. I know that You will answer my own personal prayers and am so grateful, it just brings me so much more joy when I can pray for others and see You do a work in there lives also. I can’t stand seeing people in need and not jump in and help them out, and I know that this giving Spirit comes from You, God. Thank You. You have made me more generous and kind than ever before. I am not better than others, but only wish to be a blessing upon people, as You would. Thank You for doing this work in my life and keeping me in Your perfect will. My faith has grown as I have looked to You each day in prayer and read the Bible. You have taught me so much, God, and I would not be where I am today without You. I give You all the glory and honor. I praise You, Lord. I love You. Amen.
