For Unto Us A Child Is Born

The Word of the Lord came unto Isaiah, the prophet, some 700 years before the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. He saw many great and marvelous things by the hand of God but nothing greater was what we will soon read about, and that is Jesus’s birth. For the Messiah was to come unto the world to 2“save His people from their sins”. Here is just one of the beloved prophesies He received concerning the coming Lord. It starts off with and reads, 1“for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” What this prophesy means is that Child was not to be any ordinary man but God Himself. He voluntarily was born among men. Therefore, the people would know Him as the most Wonderful King of all, for He is ever true to His words. He was to be the best Counsellor a person could ask for, for His love never fails. The mighty God was to come and shine His light for all to see. 3He is called the everlasting Father, for everyone that believes in Him are His children. He would be known as the Prince of Peace, for everywhere he went, the piece of God came down upon the people.

The second half of this prophesy reads, 1“of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Our Lord God did come as the prophesy was made. Jesus was born of Mary and Joseph, whom was a descendant of David. The Lord Jesus grew in the stature of God and was the best teacher of all. People not only followed our Lord but He crowds of all kinds came to hear Him teach and perform miracles. And even though this appeared to come to a close at His death, while on the cross, it was just the beginning. After He suffered and died for our sins, His kingdom was set in motion and would never fail. His government was upon His shoulders and therefore would forever rule and reign in the heavens and earth. What stands out in this prophesy is the ending, where it reads, 1“the Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.” The people were in darkness and Jesus lit everything up. His peace filled people’s lives and will forever fill everyone’s lives that believe in Him. He is our Savior and Lord. Rejoice, for the Lord has come.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am so grateful to know that You have come to save us from our sins. Thank You Lord. Thank You for Your mercy and grace. The people looked to a Messiah and You fulfilled their every wish. The Lord, whom they praised and adored did come. You are our Savior and Lord. I know that my salvation relies upon You. For You are the Mighty God, who saves. No one else has the power to save us. My heart and soul relies on You, my Wonderful Counselor. You are my Everlasting Father and I am so grateful to be allowed into Your fold. You are my God and I am Your son. Have Your way in my life, Lord. Lead me and guide me. Give me the counsel I need, in order to do what is right. Help me fight against temptation that I may be more than a conqueror. Usher in Your peace into my life and the lives of my family and friends. May Your light shine down upon me that I may go forth and be Your witness. I will go and do as You command. You are the light of my life and only You can bring me the happiness and joy that I need. I love You God. Amen.
