The fear of the Lord is to give Him reverence and respect. We take His teachings seriously. We don’t just believe but honor the commandments and laws of God. His ways become our ways, in our talk and actions. Those that fear God are blessed. 1“Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.” When we fear God, we can’t help but also walk in His ways. It would be disrespectful to know of God’s laws and then disobey them. If you are living for God, then His laws are also being obeyed. God is greater than all earthly laws, but still people would rather keep the laws of the land than God’s laws. Don’t get me wrong, we are to keep the laws that we are governed under, lest we be judged and go to prison. However, just because we don’t know of or feel the judgments of God now, it doesn’t mean that we should not fear Him. Unless we have repented of our sins and are allowing the Lord to change our heart, then we will be judged by all our evil deeds. 2“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Those that fear God are blessed. Not only in their own lives but the lives of everyone that they affect. Your family will notice the change in your life. God’s light will shine forth round about you. To those that are married, imagine how much better your relationship with your wife and children will be, if God is with you. Instead of fighting and arguing, love will fill the atmosphere and change the way you treat your wife. 1“Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.” This new life for Christ will affect your children in a positive way. Because of your example, they may also seek after God. You may even be so blessed as to see them and their children come to faith. What a wonderful promise from God. Let the fear of God take over your life. Respect and honor God above all. If you desire love and peace in your family, and or marriage, then seek after the guidance from above. 1“thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.”
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I love You and honor You. You are all holy and mighty. It is a pleasure to worship and praise Your holy Name. Your laws are so important to me. They lead me on the right path. It is an honor to serve You, my King. To live in Your light is most important to me. Lead me from all sin. Lead me away from temptation. Help me not fall into the ways of addiction and guilt. Help me to live outside the pleasures of the world. Your ways are greater. It is greater to live for You than anything else. Lord, I need Your guidance. Direct my paths. Lead me Lord. Bless me and my family. Help me to be a shining light to my wife and my children. May Your love fill the lives of my family. I love You. Amen.
