In the New Testament, John is mentioned as God’s servant, while angels are also mentioned as governing the seven churches. It is written, “the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.” (Revelation 1:1) So an angel is sent from God to John to deliver him a message. Speaking of the angels, we also learn, “the mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.” (Revelation 1:20) The point is clear that the references between John and angels is different. However, Joseph Smith thought better and decided to change several verses that say angels to servants. Here is just one example of a verse he changed in this fashion…
Revelation 2:12 (KJV)
12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;
Revelation 2:12 (Joseph Smith Translation)
12 And to the servant of the church in Pergamos write: “These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges.”
The difference between these two verses from the King James Version and the Joseph Smith Translation arises from the translation of one word, and guess what that is? You know already without me saying it. The word, “angel” was changed to “servant“. So what does God think of this change to His Word? The answer is, He hates it, and His wrath is upon such people. This includes Joseph Smith and what he did by changing the Bible. There is a powerful warning to those who dare tamper with its sacred words. In these verses, the author declares that anyone who adds or subtracts from the prophecies within this book will face severe consequences of God Himself. So no going to heaven since the person’s name is removed from the Book of life. This means the lake of fire for people who tamper with this prophesy. Surely, Joseph Smith is in hell for thinking he knew better than what the Bible says. Find out why by reading the verses below…
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18,19)
