Joseph Smith Changed The Bible: Revelation 2:8

Joseph Smith changed several verses in the Bible. I am talking about over 3400+ verses when it comes to him corrupting the King James Version (KJV) with his own version, the Joseph Smith Translation (JST). As for the Book of Revelation, he really didn’t like it when it talked about angels and thought servants sounded better. We see this all throughout this book and also in Revelation, chapter 2. See for yourself how he changed the King James Version (KJV) of this verse to his own liking below…

Revelation 2:8 (KJV)
8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

Revelation 2:8 (Joseph Smith Translation)
8 And unto the servant of the church in Smyrna write: “These things saith the First and the Last, which was dead and is alive.”

As mentioned above, the main difference between these two verses is the term angel being changed to servant. And so the phrase, “angel of the church”, is now changed to “servant of the church”. Therefore, a heavenly being is now a human figure over a church, which takes away from the true meaning. There are problems with changing this verse in Revelation and other parts of Revelation. This is because of the following warning…

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18,19)

Therefore, if anyone adds to the Book of Revelation, God will add unto him His plagues, of which are written in this book. Joseph added the word “servant” to Revelation 2:8. The warning continues and says that if someone removes from this book, their name will be removed from the book of life. This means they will not have part of New Jerusalem, or be blessed when it comes to what is contained in this book. Joseph Smith, the first prophet in Mormonism, removed the word “angel” from this verse also. Therefore, both warnings apply to Joseph Smith. He is surely in hell awaiting his final judgment, where he will be thrown into the lake of fire. Amen.
