O Come Emmanuel

The coming of our Lord Jesus is the greatest prophesy of all time. Nothing else is greater, from times past, to now and forever. For His purpose of coming into the world was for the salvation of all mankind. No other person has ever laid down their life for every person that has ever lived, that they might live again and find mercy and grace. So let us focus on Jesus and His prophesy and give Him praise for all that He has done and will ever do. In this message, we will focus on the prophesy of Immanuel, His name that was given to the Lord at His birth and how He would forever be known for. Speaking to Ahaz, the king, the Lord God proclaimed, 1“therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” And then the Lord came unto Isaiah, as he was filled with the Spirit. Here, he proclaimed, 2“he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.” Yes, the Lord God would come from the Jewish people and be conceived by the virgin Mary. What he would do for us, would be spread abroad to all the lands. For nothing was like coming of the our Lord. His ministry would forever be told.

Being filled with the Spirit, Isaiah then helped us understand what Immanuel meant. He said, 2“take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.” The meaning was that God would be here with us, in the flesh. So the people waited on the Lord God, their Messiah and King. Praises filled the atmosphere, for the future was bright. Hope filled the hearts of the people. Now, 700 years later, this prophesy was fulfilled. Unto Mary, and her husband Joseph, did the Lord Jesus come into this world. First, Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel about her virgin birth and then Joseph was told of the same event and to not fear his marriage with Mary. Here is what happened next, 3“now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.” So Jesus, Emmanuel, did come and everyone that believes in Him are saved. He is our Savior and King.

Let us pray:
Dear God, I come to You now in praise and honor. You are my King and I worship You. O come Emmanuel. You are welcome Jesus, my Lord and my God, in my life. I honor You, my King. Your mission was fulfilled and we are saved because of Your sacrifice on the cross. You have saved us from our sins, if we but believe in You, Jesus. I pray that as You have covered my sins through Your blood, that others will also come unto You and fill of Your mercy today. May their sins be covered and washed clean, as You cleanse me daily. My life is Your, dear God. I know that You came for the redemption of mankind and for that I praise You and adore You, my God. I am so grateful to know that what You have done was for me. That I am important in Your eyes. That I have a purpose. You have opened my eyes to greater things. Your Spirit touches my heart daily. I am moved to walk in Your light. Thank You for Your guidance and direction. I can do nothing but through You, dear God, who strengthens me. I am blessed to have You ever in my life. I give You glory. I rejoice in the Name of Jesus. I love You. Amen.
