On May 17, 1838, Joseph Smith prophesied that the government would be overthrown if they do not undo the wrongs they committed against the Mormon church. Even so much as to say that there will be nothing left of it. They were upset that they were chased out of their lands because of their cultish practices. This is that false prophecy. Joseph Smith said, “I prophecy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the state of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted, and there will not be so much as a potsherd left for their wickedness in permitting the murder of men, women and children, and the wholesale plunder and extermination of thousands of her citizens to go unpunished (History of the Church, Vol. 5, page 394). But did this happen? No.
It has been almost two hundred years and still, the US government is intact. Surprise, surprise, nothing was retracted when it comes to the Mormon faith. What the LDS believed was wrong when it came to them in Missouri was never redressed or admitted as wrong. Therefore, another false prophecy was made by the hand of a false prophet, named Joseph Smith. Peter warned us about people like this man. He said, “but there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” (2 Peter 2:1,2) Notice how we are warned against false prophets and false teachers who bring in damnable heresies. These same people deny the true Jesus of the Bible and make up a Jesus to fit their beliefs. That is why swift destruction is in their paths. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that not only I, but thousands of other Christians will have success witnessing to Mormons. The success being, leading them to You, Jesus, for salvation. Helping them unlearn the lies that their false prophets and teachers have taught them over the years of being a Mormon. I know that this is possible, but we need the help of the Holy Spirit in order for veils to be lifted off their faces. Currently, these people believe that they already have the truth, so trying to convince them otherwise is very difficult by man’s standards, Jesus. They see us as their enemies when we only want to help them come to know You. Even the truth that comes from the Bible, of which Your truth comes from. God, many of these people think we hate them because of our witnessing to them, but we could say the same things about them coming to our doors and witnessing to us. This is so true, but I will not see things as the lost does. Truly, they need our help and I will go before You as Your witness. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
