The Lord’s prayer is the most respected prayer and even one of the most respected verses of all time in the Bible. Many people have not only read these beautiful verses but have memorized them because of how sacred the words are. I believe this and have done the same also. When Jesus prays we should give Him our sincere attention and a desire to keep those words accurate and unchanged throughout our life and forever. After saying all this, let us now take another look at what Jesus said and taught us when He prayed. The Lord God said, “9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” (Matthew 6:9-13) Notice the phrases, “thy kingdom come” and “give us this day our daily bread”. I mention them because they have been changed in the Book of Mormon. Although Matthew, chapter 6, is copied and pasted in 3 Nephi, chapter 13, the verses are not the same. They have been changed and corrupted in many different ways.
We say, “thy kingdom come“, for we desire God’s kingdom to come not only in our lives but others that we share the gospel with. We sincerely ask God to pour out His Spirit upon us, the people around us, and this nation. “Give us this day our daily bread” means to ask God to supply our everyday needs. We put Him first and He gives us our bread or nourishment in life. What is too bad about all this is that when Joseph Smith copied the Lord’s prayer in his Book of Mormon he removed those important phrases above. See the evidence below. “9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 12 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 13 For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.” (3 Nephi 13:9-13) It is sad when people go astray like this and make up a Jesus in their own minds. A Jesus that would only teach what they believe in, therefore eliminating verses and phrases that people disagree with. The truth is, Joseph Smith died while leading millions of Mormons astray. He is now in hell because of this. This does not have to be you. Come out of Mormonism and to Jesus for salvation. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will come to You as their Lord and Savior. That Your kingdom will come not only in our lives but many more people who put their trust in You. Give us Your daily bread. Not the things we think we need, but what You would over, God. So often our flesh gets in the way of doing Your will as it is in heaven. We feel good about our life and therefore making any important changes for Your kingdom becomes last on our list. It is true that You have spoken to every person in this world, no matter the skin color, religion, or culture they live in. We are all given a chance to be saved, but only a few people receive the truth and joy in knowing it and living it out. I love Your ways. The words in scripture are a lamp unto my feet. You give me the direction that I am needing to go onward in life. Terrible things happen all the time and it is Your presence that helps me forgive everyone that has offended me. Satan is real and I am grateful for Your deliverance when He comes to tempt me. Continue to be with me, Lord, and lead me apart from temptation. Hallowed and highly revered is Your Name. I exalt the God of the heavens, even the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Thank You for adopting me and many others in the faith as Your sons and daughters. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
