In this life, we must realize that our bodies are not our own, but are the temple of God. And if the Spirit of God dwells in us, then we should make a home worthy of His presence. However, most times we forget God and do our own things throughout the day. Our minds and hearts are turned over to the things of this world, which brings our flesh pleasure. We all know what these things are, but giving up such things that are only turning us away from God is difficult for most. That is why people need to realize that constant prayer and reading of God’s Word the Bible is so vital for our soul. For the times we forget God is when His roadmap for our lives becomes clouded, even until we cannot walk any longer under God’s statutes. Now, to help you understand this, read what Paul said in 1 Corinthians, chapter 3, starting with verse 16. It reads, “know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16,17) He said much more than this, which we will cover next, but meditate on the verses I just quoted. God will destroy those who defile His holy temple on earth come death and judgment, which is our bodies. This is not to take lightly, for God will do exactly what is spoken in the Bible. This is for certain. There is heaven or hell that awaits all people who pass from this life in death. Where are you going?
Paul also said, “let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your’s; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your’s; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.” (1 Corinthians 3:18-23) What God is asking of each one of us is to not allow ourselves to deceive ourselves. We cannot make up our own belief system or justify any sins and think that we are right with the Lord. Therefore, we are asked to be humbled, even if we seem to be wise in our own eyes. He can see already how vain our thoughts and the imaginations of our hearts, even though we have thought ourselves to be wise among people. We have something wonderful at our disposal that will help us get back on track with God if we have strayed. God has left us His holy words in the Bible. The authors therein are simply God’s elect, bringing to pass His teachings among men. Start reading the Bible for yourself and you will find this out quickly. And don’t pick it apart, but read it as a child. Then, will you learn how God wants to use you for His kingdom and also lead you from wickedness and into His abundant light. Then, will we make our temple holy. Constant prayer will certainly help a person get right with God also.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will begin to treat You as God and not just an imaginary person. Too many people are praying a quick prayer. It doesn’t even seem like they really believe You exist most times. It appears as if people are used to praying a certain way because of how they were raised, but never truly learned how to know You, God, for themselves. So, it is my prayer that people will draw near unto You, that You may also draw near unto them. Then, can people know Your will for their lives. How their bodies are Your temple and should not be tampered with. I know that I fall all the time into sin and I feel so bad for my wrongful actions. How I caused Your temple to become dirty in that moment, of which I am so sorry. Therefore, in my sorrow do I cry out to You for forgiveness, that You may become my fortress at all times and in all places. That I may not fall in the same way again, but live a different way pleasing in Your sight. If I am Your servant, then I must also learn to live for You and not my own flesh. This I pray that all people will begin to think this way. How we cannot justify our sinful actions or false beliefs and believe we are good in this life and the next. For certainly we are not if we are not being led by Your mighty hand, but our own fleshly and sinful desires. I love You, Lord. Forgive me this day for all things I did wrong. I am sorry and pray that You will build me up with Your armor. I know that I can resist temptation when You are in my life. So I pray for Your continued guidance and direction. This I pray. In Jesus’s Name. Amen.
