In John, chapter 14, Jesus said something about His Father that changed how everybody felt about Him. Even that He is God. It is written, “Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?” (John 14:5-9) Wow! Here we learn that Jesus is the way to eternal life and that no man cometh to the Father but through Him alone. And to top this off, Jesus said that if you have seen Him, you have seen the Father. And this doesn’t end here. Jesus speaks of Him coming in the form of the comforter also, of which we learn in the next few paragraphs. But was this all prophesied of long before His birth? Yes, it was, as we will find out in Isaiah, chapter 9.
As we remember, Isaiah prophesied of Jesus and how the Father and the Comforter or the Counselor would dwell in Him. Isaiah, chapter 9, reads, “for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6,7) So we learn that there are some important characteristics in this child, that was to be born. It says of this baby boy that He would grow up to become the Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. The Father, because the spirit of the Father indwells in Him. The Comforter, because the Holy Spirit indwells in Him. God, because all three persons make up the trinity, which is the only one true God.
Lastly, Jesus said, “believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” (John 14:10,11) “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:16-18) Jesus speaks even clearer than before, that as the Father dwells in Him, so does He dwell in the Father. Even the Father sends the Holy Spirit upon us that Jesus may also be with us. As He said, when the Comforter is with us, Jesus is with us also. The very fact that Jesus said that seeing Him, we see the Father makes Him our Mighty God as was prophesied of. This cannot be any more clear that Jesus is God. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will come to know You the way it was meant for them too. You so long to open our eyes and ears to things that are heavenly, and I pray that people will be humble enough to receive You. How can people proclaim to know You and still live in the filth of this world? The faith that is found in too many people is dead and needs to be lit up, lest I fear that their souls are at stake of going to hell when they die. You know who will be found worthy to enter the kingdom of heaven, come judgment day, and I pray that people will repent before it is too late. There is still time for them. Oh, how I love Your ways. I adore You, God. Thank You for giving me an ear to hear You and eyes to see Your mysteries. In Your presence have I found joy that cannot be found anywhere else. I am so grateful, God. It would be amazing to show people a glimpse of what I have in You, but I know that it is impossible unless they are ready to receive. For this reason, will I continue to be Your witness and be led to talk to the very elect. Yes, God, lead me to people who are ready to follow You. I believe in You, Jesus. I honor and praise You. I love You. Amen.
