When it comes to our salvation, we cannot earn it, for only the Lord Jesus has the power to give it. There is only salvation through Him and through nothing else. As he said, 2“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” And concerning mercy, He will give it to whom He sees fit also. There is no works that we can do that will make us a better fit for His kingdom or have us be more accepted. This is because all our own works that we can accomplish without the Lord in our lives are filthy rags. As Isaiah wrote, 1“we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags”. Therefore, we need a Savior, a person that can take us from the place we are in and give us new life. The type of life that can change us from within, that we no longer walk in our own desires but in God’s will. It is important to allow the Lord to change our earthly appetites that we may walk with Him and not in this world. This is because, as Paul said, 4“they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God.” And if we are not God’s children than there is also no salvation and no entrance into heaven. Think of it this way. If God was not your Father, would He let you into His kingdom, where all of His adopted children are? Of course not. You must first become His child and then His blessings will fall upon you also, including heaven.
It is the children of God that God has mercy upon. Those that call upon the Name of Jesus and do what He says will be found worthy. However, this cannot be said for the children of the flesh, for they are not for Him. The Lord knows who is for Him and desires His mercy and who does not. He knows who is really wanting to find mercy and be changed from their addictions and bondage they are in. He also knows who only wants to feel better in the moment that they sinned but have no desire to repent and make things right. Therefore, Paul wrote, 4“as it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” It is so important to be on the Lord’s side and to be called His children. So, if you want to know how to become a child of God, then here is your answer. Paul said, 3“if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Therefore, who God sets free is then able to live in the Spirit, and has become His child. So knowing this, I pray that You will have an open heart to God, that He may take you in and give You knew life today. This is vital to your salvation.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that every person in the faith will desire to live for You and no longer for this world. Break the chains of addiction in every person’s life that believes in You. May they no longer be in bondage of sin but find an escape in You, starting today. I know that as we walk in the ways of the world our flesh is carnal and our desires are far from You. In doing this, we are children of the flesh and are headed on a path to destruction. This I know because my life was like this for many years until I found You. In all my sins, I came unto You in prayer, having great sorrow for every wicked deed I had committed. I did not wish to live this type of life any longer and needed Your deliverance. Therefore, You took me in and showed me compassion. I did not deserve it, but You had mercy upon me anyways. Thank You Jesus. I know that You can see into each of our hearts and who is sincere in their faith in You. For this, I am grateful that You saw my heart felt desires to repent. If You had not come into my life and changed me from within, I would be so lost and heartbroken. Now, my life is alive in Your love. I am Your child and can look to the future, for You are able to do great things in my life. May Your Spirit ever be my guide and lead me in the ways of righteousness. I love You God more than all things. You are my delight. Amen.
