In Isaiah, chapter 13, the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus is laid out in a big way. We are surely able to get a good picture in our mind at the events that take place. And I’ll put it this way, it will not be a fun time for most people that remain on the earth. Why is this? Because the wicked will be utterly destroyed by God and His royal army. So instead of me telling you the whole story, let us get into the Word and allow God to speak through every word. In that day, Isaiah said, 1“lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles. I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.” So as you can see here, God will call upon His mighty angels and His people on earth to lift up a banner up for Him. The Lord will then lead them into the gates of the people. Surely, God will use His army to do mighty things in His Name. And the reason is, God is not happy with the people of this world. The wickedness of this earth has cried up to the heavens and now the Lord will have His way against anyone that doesn’t call Him Lord and instead lives in their sins.
In these last days, that Jesus returns, Isaiah said that the whole earth would shake. It would no longer be the same place again. He said, 1“the noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the Lord of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.” As it is written, it is God that is causing this shake to take place. Now, in that time a great war is about to ensue. On one side is God’s people, and another those that are against Him. Speaking of the army of God, Isaiah, said, 1“they come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the Lord, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.” Even in these tumultuous times, God’s people will say, 1“howl ye; for the day of the Lord is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them.” Surely, people will wish they had given their lives to Jesus while they had time. However, their time is up and people will pay the consequences. You can’t even imagine the pain and sorrows in their hearts. This will surely be a rough time for those that don’t love God.
Speaking of this time when the battle is raging upon the earth, nobody will be safe and everyone will be pained because of it. Oh the fear that will ensue upon the people. They will be so frightened as God’s hand overthrows the wicked. It is recorded that 1“they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.” So every unbeliever, and willful sinner therein, will be destroyed. They will not find refuge in this day. Now, everyone had a chance to give their lives fully over to the Lord Jesus before His coming, but instead they did nothing. Â People may have said occasional prayers that were more ritualistic than sincere, or went to a church service on occasion, but all this meant nothing to their spiritual well-being. They did not get into God’s Word and truly pray to their Lord and Savior, in order to be led by God and be saved. Instead, they were led by their own flesh, which was apart from God. Even when approached by Christians, they found no interest in a real discussion. It was their pride that got in the way, because they were content in the things that they had already accomplished apart from God. Even though these people live in willful sin, they feel good about their life.
So in conclusion, we know from God’s Word, that He will not take lightly what the wicked and every unbeliever is doing on earth. The people may find temporary pleasures in their worldly endeavors, but when Jesus returns, they will be dashed in pieces. Isaiah continued and said that “the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.” So as you can see, this scene is not good for the wicked. Not only is God going to punish them in judgement, by throwing them in the lake of fire, He will also destroy the wicked that are on the earth. The proud will not be able to stand in the day of the Lord. Every wicked way will be dealt with. No one will escape the punishments that are justly there’s in that day. Now there is so much more to get into, but instead I will split this chapter up into two messages. I just pray that what you’ve read today will wake you up to follow Jesus and no longer be led by the things of this world. You have a choice to make. Will you be on God’s side, or be against Him, and therefore pay the consequences thereof?
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I know that Your coming is drawing nearer each day. Surely, if people are not ready when You return, then they will be dealt with harshly. I know that the wicked will be destroyed in that day, therefore, I pray that people will wake up to their sins and confess them today. May they no longer live in the wickedness of this world, but instead live a righteous life in You. Only You have the power to break down the pride in their lives. Surely, this has caused many to not come to You and instead be content with their lives. Even though their sins are apparent, their arrogance in it has caused them to not repent. So humble those that are ready today. I pray that more people will be saved before Your coming. And use me to reach them Lord. Allow me to be Your servant and speak the truth to their hearts. I know that You have the power to break down the chains of addiction, for You are all powerful. Nobody is like You Lord. May Your words flow through my mouth and convict people of their current wicked lifestyle. Then will they wake up to it and pray with me. I know that You are waiting for them to call upon Your Name. Then will they find Your mercy and grace. Otherwise, their foolishness may get to the best of them. Oh, I pray that this does not happen and more souls are saved. Surely, we need more messengers in the harvest to reach the lost. So I pray that many people will heed Your calling to go out today. I say these things Lord, in Your Holy Name. Amen.
