It is amazing how the Lord God speaks through certain individuals in order to share important prophesy. It was when God told Isaiah to go to Jerusalem to meet up with King Ahaz is when an amazing prophesy was unfolded unto this man. It was no ordinary prophesy for it was of Immanuel, as Jesus was called. His glorious birth was made known after the Lord God came unto Him and said that He could ask for a sign. In God’s Words, it says, 1“moreover the Lord spake again unto Ahaz, saying, ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord. And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?” So as you see, Ahaz was not about to ask God for any sign, lest He tempt the Lord His God. However, as we’ll find out next, the sign that God wanted to give unto Him was no ordinary sign. For Ahaz would soon find out that the Savior of the world soon come to be born. This revelation was some 700 years before the birth of Christ the Lord.
The Lord did respond to Ahaz and delivered unto Him His message. It reads, 1“therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.” So he learned that a baby would come into the world of a virgin. His name would be called Immanuel or as it is defined, 2“God with us”. This same child would refuse to do evil and do what is good. And the only person we know that could be born of a virgin is God. Only He could make this miracle take place. And only the Lord Jesus could walk so perfectly and not fall into sin. What an amazing thing to know of and then look forward to. Surely, this would awake any person to look forward in faith for their Messiah to come. And Jesus did come forth of a virgin, Mary. The Lord God was with us and His light still shines forth for all to see. All praises to the name of Jesus.
Let us pray:
Lord God, it truly is a miracle that You were born of a virgin. This was a miraculous event indeed. All the angels surely were rejoicing on this great day. Only You could allow this to take place. And to know that You prophesied of it 700 years ago to Ahaz is amazing. Your prophesies are true and they always come to pass, especially this one. Your birth was the most amazing event to take place. Nobody will or ever forget the day that You, my Lord, came into the world. Lives have been and will forever be changed because of it. I am so grateful that You came, dear God. Because of this knowledge, my life is different. There is no more shame but love. You have scattered all the darkness and ushered in Your light. Because You came down and bore our sins on the cross, I have freedom from sin. There is no more chains, for You are my shield. I give You all the glory for what You have done in my life. I am rescued by You, my Messiah and King. You are my Savior and whom I look to in faith. I love You Lord. Amen.

1Isaiah 7:1-16 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
2 And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
3 Then said the Lord unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;
4 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
5 Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
6 Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:
7 Thus saith the Lord God, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.
9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.
10 Moreover the Lord spake again unto Ahaz, saying,
11 Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.
13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
2Matthew 1:18-25 (KJV)
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
