There is a famine on the earth today. “Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.” Only few people draw near to the Lord and listen to His counsel for their hearts are far from Him. Many go to church but never understand the message for their hearts aren’t open to God. Instead of seeking the Lord for wisdom they do their own thing during the week. We are unable to listen to the Lord if we aren’t reading His words. We will be more easily led astray if reading the Word of God isn’t part of our daily routine. It is amazing that so many people call themselves Christians and still don’t know the Lord. How can we appreciate all the Lord has done for us if we aren’t reading the Bible? How can our praise be sincere if we aren’t walking in His ways? Through prayer we are drawn to read His words. For Jesus desires for us all to come to Him. Only those that seek to know the Lord will be saved. For their hearts are open to accept God’s will in their lives. In this, the Lord can perform a mighty miracle that will change them forever. When we love the Lord, we can’t help but want to live our lives for Jesus. We long to know His words for they draw us closer to Him.
Whenever we go to church our hearts should be open to the counsels of God in His message. We should come with a desire to learn more about Jesus. The Spirit wants to convict us of the truth. By opening up the Bible and studying the verses we learned about in church, a mighty work will take place in our lives. We will be convicted by each word to do good. God’s word was given to us in order for us to grow in the faith. We are all children and by following God’s teachings we will grow up and mature in our beliefs. This is the only way we will find the true path home. There are many paths but only one way to Jesus in the heavens above. We desperately need guidance in this lost world we live in. We can’t walk blind and still believe we are saved. Thank You Lord for the Bible. It has truly done a marvelous work in my life. I am led to know You better, each day that I read. It is a light to my path. Your words are lamp unto my feet. They give me hope. When I read, I can feel your presence drawing me closer to You. Thank You Jesus for all that You are. I praise your Holy Name. I lift You up high.
Amos 8:11,12 (KJV)
11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
