What I will present to you today should cause every person of the Mormon church to resign for the sake of Christ. It is because, on December 12, 2005, a nativity scene was set up in the BYU Administration Building not for Jesus, but for Joseph Smith. You heard that right. You have baby Joseph in a crib, an angel Moroni figure above his head, and a Bible on a chair opened to James. There was also a picture of Joseph with the following message. “We are the beneficiaries of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, a work which had its earthly commencement with the birth of the prophet Joseph Smith, in the hills of Vermont on December day in 1805. As we commemorate the birth of the baby in Bethlehem, the Savior of the world, may we also remember this messenger, Joseph Smith, and rejoice in his life and sacrifice.” If this does not rub you wrong and cause you to want to vomit, then I don’t know what to say. This is blasphemy to Jesus and Him coming into the world in the finest. Do many LDS people know this happened, most likely not, but this does not excuse what has already happened those 16 years ago.
As Christians, we don’t celebrate anything else during the Christmas season but Jesus and His birth. People of the world celebrate Christmas with Santa Clause and reindeer, but we know better. To make a mockery of God during this time of year, especially to get into pagan worship like worshipping Joseph Smith is ridiculous. Now, to help you understand how Joseph really is. Look at what Brigham Young said about him. “Joseph Smith holds the keys of this last dispensation, and is now engaged behind the vail in the great work of the last days. No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the Celestial Kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.” (Brigham Young – October 9, 1859 – Journal of Discourses Vol. 7 pg. 289) Again, everything comes down to Joseph letting people into heaven or not, not Jesus. If you cannot see how cult-like this is, then I don’t know what to say. As Christians, we know that Jesus is the only way to heaven, not man. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) Believing in any other way to heaven, but through Christ will send a person first to hell and then the lake of fire. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, it is to You alone that I worship. To You alone do I lift up in praise. I love to remember Your birth, Jesus, during the Christmas season. Of course, to remember You daily during the year is what I love to do also. You are my God and I worship You, God. I wish every person would know that only through Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we can be saved. No other person will ever allow us into heaven, but You alone Jesus. I love You with all my heart, mind, and strength. Keep me in Your everlasting arms. I am safe when You are building me up and not the world. I long to be in Your presence every day that I wake. You are my fortress and my firm foundation. I will not grow weary of doing Your good works on earth. Keep Your works flowing in me. My only desire is to look to You in this life, listen to what You have to say, and then hearken unto Your words. Give me wisdom. I will lean unto Your understand and not what the world says. Keep me far from the enemy, that I might live in freedom from sin and death. May there be more holiness, and righteousness in my life. Only You can do this, my King. I love You, God. I trust in You. Have Your way in my life. I bow before You, Lord. Hear my cries. Amen.
