To every person who is suffering from a chronic illness, cancer, or anything else that has caused them to be on the verge of dying, if you are in Christ, there is paradise to come. A place where “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) You have suffered long enough on earth and your reward is now in heaven. Praise be to God that He loves us so much as to not allow us to suffer any longer, and to soon allow us to be in a constant state of peace. Even Jesus said, “let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” (John 14:1-4) The Lord Jesus is preparing a place for you. A place where there are many mansions and one of them is specific for you. Wow! What a great God. And in that day when we pass on from this life to the next, He will receive us up unto Himself. Wherever He will be, we will be with there too forever, even till all eternity.
I read these verses in John chapter 14 to my mom today, since she is under hospice care, in a nursing home, and is predicted to only live a few more weeks before taking her last breath. She is very weak and is hardly eating, but I wanted to make sure that she knew that her faith in Jesus will save her. Each time I visited her in these last many months and in times past, I have encouraged her to not lose faith in Jesus, but to keep seeking Him daily. And if she did, while accepting Him as Lord and Savior, she would be saved. To not put her trust in man, but God alone. And before leaving her I read this promise from Jesus, “peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.” (John 14:27,28) We can experience the peace with God in this life, and it can last a lifetime if we but continue to put our trust in Him. The peace God gives is the best feeling ever, and the day He receives us up to be with Him, we will fully experience this peace. It will not end. Praise God. Don’t lose hope! God will take you home soon, dear child of the Most High.
Let us pray:
Dear Lord, You know my heart for You and it is sincere. I love You with all my heart. But there is one person who I wish to be saved before she takes her last breath. Yes, God, it is my mother, who raised me up to believe in You also. May she continue to trust in You, even before her last breath on this earth. I have tried to encourage her to look to You in all things in faith and to endure the suffering. To remain strong with You by her side. I pray that she has listened, and as she has encouraged me over the years to also not lose faith, may she not also. Not in religion, but You, Jesus, unto salvation. I want there to be a wonderful reunion come death. May she be raised up in death and into life eternal. Where she will not only be with You forever in all eternity but also be with others she knew and knew of in the family who also remained steadfast in You. I pray that she will hear those words, “well done, my beloved child”. Her faith in You alone will definitely save her, not what other people have told her saves. Lord, it breaks my heart to know that my dear mother is soon to pass on, but comfort me, my family, and my friends, who also love her as much as I do. Give us strength to carry on and to know that she will be in a better place when her last day here does come. As she sang and played instruments so beautifully in this life, may that continue in heaven. I love You, Jesus. You are my God and I will trust in You, even until the very end of this life and the next. Keep my faith lit in the Holy Spirit. I will go and do as You say, my Father and dear friend. In Jesus’s Name. Amen.
Death is not the end for those who have put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and are truly born again.
