God has great plans for our lives. As believers in Christ, He wants to use us for His glory. In doing this, He pours down upon us His spiritual gifts, that many souls will be saved and that other people will be strengthened in the faith. However, it is up to us to seek God, obey His voice, and not question His intentions. Doubting will only cause the Lord God’s anger to fall upon us. This is because He is waiting for a willing disciple and not someone that doesn’t feel adequate about themselves. I mention all this since Moses is an example of someone that was given a great calling from God, but because he questioned what God wanted to do through Him, God was angry and passed on what He wanted Moses to do to Aaron. In the following verses, you will see how Moses doubted God. Moses said, 1“behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.” (Exodus 4:1) It was then that the Lord showed him how He could do miracles, through His faith in God. This caught him off guard, but still he doubted. He then said, 1“O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.” (Exodus 4:10) God then tried to make him see that it would be Him doing the work. The Lord said, 1“go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.” (Exodus 4:12) Would Moses finally believe him? The sad thing is, is that he still couldn’t do it.
God tried to reassure Moses that he didn’t have to worry about his speech, however, his doubts continued. Therefore he said, 1“O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.” (Exodus 4:13) This didn’t please God one bit, for he wanted to pass on his calling to someone else. It was then recorded that 1“the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.” (Exodus 4:14) Know that God’s anger and wrath is real. If we are not willing to accept His callings in our lives, then He will find another person to fulfil it. As for us, we may not be used in the same way again, unless we learn to obey His will. Otherwise, continued doubting in God’s power in our lives will make it so that His miracles will never take place through our hands. May this help you understand how God works. It isn’t us that does the work in God’s kingdom, but Him. To think that you are doing anything on your own is wrong. This thinking will only get you in trouble, even to the point of you doing your own thing without God. And without God leading you, then it will only be your words and they are empty and void without the Lord with you. In the story of Moses, Aaron was used by God instead of Moses for a time. This was until Moses finally listened and did what the Lord asked of him. I pray that you will do the same and no longer resist God’s calling for your lives, but jump at whatever the Lord wants to do through you.
Let us pray:
Lord God, I pray that as believers, we will never doubt Your will for our lives again. When You bless us with Your spiritual gifts and want to use us for Your kingdom, may we respond in favor and not question You in any way. One thing I know is that my weaknesses will become strengths, if You desire to use me in that fashion. Though I am not the best speaker, when I open my mouth Your words flow deep into the hearts of everyone listening. This did take time for me to realize in the beginning, but now I know that nothing I am unable to do in my own life can stop me from achieving Your calling for my life. If I but continue to believe in You and simply obey You, everything is possible. My slow speech is made perfect, as You lead me and guide me on Your path. The foolish are confounded by Your words that flow through my mouth. Conviction of sins is made evident and sorrow unto repentance is made a reality. For this reason, I give You all the glory and all the praise. I know that my flesh is weak and could never achieve such things on my own. if You are not doing the work, then I can do nothing good. I am glad to be Your vessel in this darken world. Your light needs to shine, in order for the darkness to escape from every souls that is lost. People are seeking to know You, and to be Your messenger is a great blessing, indeed. These people need to be found and be brought into Your kingdom, so thank You for using me to achieve this goal. Please keep leading me and using me, all the days of my life. I love seeing people come to You and be saved and am willing to do whatever You want for me. I know that Your ways are righteous and I can never get enough of Your presence. Seeing people be blessed with Your love brings me so much joy. I love You Lord. You are my God and I trust in You. Amen.
