Let us define what adultery is and get right to the matter. It is defined as both a person that has sex with a married person and a person that lusts after another person sexually. The first half of the definition is widely accepted but the second half is not. However, both parts are true in the heart of every true Christian. Why? Because Jesus taught this very same definition of adultery. The Lord said, 2“ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” God’s words are plain, in that our thoughts and what in our hearts, we will be judged by. Even our lustful thoughts for one another is vial and wicked in the sight of God. Now, who are you going to trust? The world or the Lord Jesus, who saves? If you trust in the Lord, then also know that adultery is wrong. I tell you this, since adultery is running ramped in our generation. Not only are people having affairs but they are also into pornography. Now those that look at porn may not realize that the very act of it is adultery but it is. Don’t be fooled by what people are saying about it. Just as Jesus mentioned, when a person is looking at a screen or magazine, with their sexual fascinations, their lust for these men and women is on full display. As such, adultery is in full force. With such people that have caused this wickedness to come upon them, God’s wrath is poured out.
Speaking of the vial acts of adultery, Agur put it this way, 1“such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.” This is so sad that adultery makes people do such things, but it is true. It is so hard to see someone I love and care for, commit such lustful acts and still justify their actions. What foolishness, to blatantly fall into sin, when you know better. Don’t people realize that such things causes a rift between them and God? Truly, repentance is the only cure to this. As with such people, Jesus calls every sinner to repent. In His own words, He said, 3“except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” We can’t expect to play with fire and still be saved in heaven. To those that ignore this call from God and continue to sleep around and look at porn, come death, they will be dealt with in judgement. Every person that dies in their adulterous ways will be cast into hell. Paul taught, 4“know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” If you have found yourself in this mess, then repent and confess your sins today. Call upon the name of Jesus, that His mercy may fall upon you. Only the Lord can change your wicked heart. Will you respond to this call?
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, please open the eyes of those that are in darkness. Lead these people out of the mess that they are in and into Your light. May they realize how wicked they have become and desire to be made free today. To every person that has fallen into the adulterous lifestyle, I pray that they may find to a way out. May they understand the damage they have caused to the people around them and their soul. This way of living has damaged the way they think and act around the opposite sex. These images are now written in their hearts and minds and will be a daily reminder, lest they repent and be made right with You today. Only You can change us and destroy every act of sin. We may be unable to escape the grasps of temptation but You make us capable. We are conquerors with You in our lives. Everything that has ever been written inside of us can be replaced with Your Words. I know that since I have been delivered over from my adulterous ways, anyone can. Yes Lord, You have restored me into a life of love, joy, happiness and peace. My life has never been the same. It has been flipped upside down and it is all because of You, Jesus. Thank You for saving me. I am so grateful for Your mercy. I love You Lord. Amen.
