Many long to know the keys to eternal life in heaven. A certain lawyer also desired to know this, when He asked Jesus, “what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”. The Lord answered, ““What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”” The man replied, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” Jesus then replied, ““You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”” It is only through our love for God and our neighbor will we live again in heaven. Those that truly love the Lord will also love their neighbor. The question is, do you love your neighbor? When you see someone that is sick and afflicted do you care for them or just stair and walk away? When you see someone on the side of the road, hungry and cold, do you stop and help them or just walk right past them? The sad thing is, only few go the extra mile to love their neighbor. Only few stop and care for the needy. The people on the streets are weary and just need some comfort. Show your love, as true Christians, and care for them. See life through their eyes, just for a moment. If you just knew how broken they are inside you would jump to help them. Do as the Samaritan did and have compassion on them. He saw a man suffering and “He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine” “He set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

When speaking of the good Samaritan, Jesus tells us “Go and do likewise”. Listen to His words for they hold the keys to eternal life in heaven. As you love the Lord, His love will be manifested in your life. Have compassion on others as Jesus has for us. Be strong in the faith so that Jesus can count on you to show His love towards all men. Take Him by the hand and let Him lead you to those in need. When you see the homeless, stop what you are doing and help them. Have things ready to give to them, like clothes, shoes and coats. If they are hungry, buy them food. If they are sick, get them medicine. Bandage up their wounds and pray for their healing. Share the love of Jesus with those in need. Throw your arms around them and let them know that God loves them. Pray that they may be comforted in these hard times. Pray that Jesus will help them get off the streets and back into a home again soon. Oh Lord, my heart breaks to see so many people homeless in this city and across the world. I want to help them all but I need help. Change the hearts of people that they may have a greater desire to help the poor. Pierce their souls that they may truly follow You in actions. I believe in Your words. I know that we as Christians have a great need to lead by example. May our hearts always be pointed to You and others. May your light shine bright in my life. Lead me Lord, all the days of my life. I love You.

Luke 10:25-37 (NKJV)
25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?”
27 So he answered and said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’”
28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”
29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.
34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’
36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”
37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

My life is dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus to the world. I love the Lord and want everyone to feel the same love. I would feel awful if I kept His joy to myself. For this I write daily devotionals to lead people to Christ. Jesus is the anchor of my soul.
