If we don’t give up our pride it will eventually overcome us. We will be deceived by things of the world. Things will look appealing on the outside but inwardly be filled with mold and stains. We will feel a sense of joy based on our possessions. The more we accomplish the more fulfilling we will be. It will be as if we have trekked the highest mountain and came out on top. Our hearts will be gleaming and feel as if we are unstoppable. What others may offer will be of no value to what we have. Things of God won’t measure up to their happiness. Gain drives their motivation. They feel untouchable. They have reached a plateau and are exceedingly glad. It’s in this state that self-worth means more than anything. If a person is intent to stay in this state they will never know the Lord. He won’t be important to them. He won’t give them happiness for their hearts are closed. They are too deep in riches and themselves than to think of heavenly things. If a person continue in this state there will be a reckoning for their soul. Their life may have had pleasure in the ways of the world but in heaven they shall be cut off from the Lord. There is no place in heaven for pride.
We need to be found wanting to be part of the Lord’s kingdom. We need to look past ourselves and look to God. We need to give up our treasures on earth and follow the Lord. We need to be brought down in humility to know the Lord. We need to stop looking for temporary joy but seek joy that is eternal in the Lord. This life is too short. Stop fighting the Lord and let Him into your lives. Open your heart and let Him in. Forget yourself and live for the Lord. Surrender your life to Jesus. Let Him purify your heart. If your life has stains of regret, come to the Lord in prayer and ask for forgiveness. Don’t hold on to the past but be renewed in Christ Jesus. If we make a home for Him, His Spirit will dwell in our hearts. His love will carry us onward through lives trials. We will be guided to people that are searching for the Lord. Oh Lord, Let our minds be focused on your will and not our own. Let us love one another more earnestly. Let us live to serve others. As we develop a relationship with You, speak to our hearts. We come to you for wisdom and counsel. We will listen when You speak. We love your presence. You are the fire that burns in our soul. We live to give You glory.
Obadiah 1:2-4
2 “Behold, I will make you small among the nations; You shall be greatly despised.
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’
4 Though you ascend as high as the eagle, And though you set your nest among the stars, From there I will bring you down,” says the Lord.
