Discovering Jesus for the first time is like taking baby steps. We are so excited for this new experience in life. Our sins have been washed away. Â We can’t wait to tell our friends about the Lord and His mercy. We are discovering the Savior in a new light and it is wonderful. Our whole frame of mind is changing. We love His presence and seek to know Him more in prayer. His love is alive in us. Not only do we want to feel this amazing joy but we want to share it with others. Through Jesus’s guidance we start learning how to follow him. We develop self-control and learn how to tame the lusts of the flesh. The things of this world are no longer important. Our faith will grow each day that we seek the Lord’s presence.
Through daily scripture study we learn what it takes to persevere in the faith. Many people went to great lengths to live their life for Jesus. Peter, Paul and others were terrific examples of living a life of faith. They encourage me as I read the Bible. I want to develop Godly attributes in my life. I know that as I am living a more holy life that I will be kinder to others. I will think more about them instead of myself. The love of God will come out in me. We should always seek to improve upon our faith each day. If we only accept Jesus and never add to our faith we are walking blind. Have you lost the zeal that you once had in following Jesus? If so, repent and give your heart to Him. The road to discipleship with God is entrance to His kingdom.
Peter 1:5-11
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
