There are times in life where we want to say enough is enough. We want to throw in the towel. The trials we are facing are too hard to handle. We might be suffering from an illness. We might be dealing with a death in the family or a friend’s passing. We might have just lost our job. Because of finances we might be losing our home. I’m sure there are many other things that we all deal with on one occasion or another. In those times, we need to trust in the Lord. For we cannot handle what life throws at us on our own. We need someone to step in for us to take the load off. We need a Savior who will bear our burdens. The Lord knows what we are dealing with and will give us the patience we need to bear it. All He asks is that we have faith and continually be in prayer.
Only through Jesus will we be able to weather the storms of life and not be discouraged. As we seek Him the trials in life won’t impact us as much as it would when we are alone. When illness strikes we will pray for healing and ask others to pray for us. When death takes a family member or friend we will pray for those that are suffering that the Lord will give them comfort. If we lose our job we will trust in the Lord that he will lead us to something that better suits us. If we lose our house we will have hope that the Lord will prepare another place of shelter where we will have heat and enough food and drink. With the Holy Spirit as our guide we will have the strength to carry on. We will find hope in God and come to know that His promises are true.
Lord, I will praise You when times are good and when times are hard. I will lift my voice to the heavens and worship You. I will not lose hope in You. I know that You will continually dry my tears when times are hard. My hope is in You. You’ve never left me before and I know that I can count on You. When my flesh had its hooks in the things of the world I was unstable and could never give my life fully over to You. I wanted to come to You but my heart was too entangled in the world. I could feel the pains of life. It was overwhelming. It wasn’t until I decided that I had enough that I put my trust in You. From that point on I have felt a love that never ends. My heart has been healed. I can feel Your hand in my life. During the storms of life I know that You will comfort me and give me patience.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
