A False Teaching in Mormonism is that the Father has a body of flesh and bones, even though they admit the Holy Spirit is spirit because He dwells in us, the believers. It reads, “the Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.” (Doctrine and Covenants 130:22) It is so easy to spot the false teaching here, but first we need to understand what it means to be a spirit. Jesus taught that a spirit does not have flesh and bones. “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.” (Luke 24:39) Paul even explained this in a way by saying that the Father is invisible, as He is a spirit and visible by humankind. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.” (Colossians 1:14,15) Let me ask you this. Are people with bodies invisible? Didn’t think so. However, spirits are, speaking of the dead.
Our Lord Jesus helps us know that the Father is spirit and those who worship Him also worship Him in spirit and truth. He said, “but the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23,24) Notice that Jesus speaks nothing of a body, but a spirit only with God. As the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we learn that the Father’s spirit dwells in the Son. No person with two bodies can dwell in each other. Jesus continued and said, “believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” (John 14:8-10) These verses are clear. The Father is spirit, and being a spirit He is able to dwell in the Son and also any place He wishes at once, being omnipresent. The teaching of the Father having a body is false. Therefore, Mormons need to repent and allow God to remove their false beliefs in Him, or else swift destruction is on their path. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for the souls of Mormons. They are on the path of destruction now, but I know that some of them are at least searching for truth and are ready to give their lives to You, Jesus. It will take them to give up many of their beliefs in order to do so, for currently, they believe in a false Christ. Learning the truth means leaving what we know behind, which I know will be difficult for many. They have hard hearts for a reason, for they do not ever want to hear that what they believe in could be false. This would destroy everything they know and trust, even their marriage. God, I know of many couples who separate or divorce because one spouse finds out the truth of Mormonism and then resigns. Even the person’s family often deserts them or no longer invites them over to family functions. For me, God, my family didn’t invite me to family functions for a few years when I left Mormons. Even now, they hate it when I bring up conversations about Your teachings that are contrary to their own. This is sad, for it shows how hard-hearted they really are. Open their minds and hearts, God. I love You. Amen.
