There is one song that I could sing over and over again and it is called, “Create In Me A Clean Heart”. A portion of those lyrics is below… “Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me. Create in me a clean heart, oh God, And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, oh Lord, and take not Thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation, and renew a right spirit within me” (Author: Keith Green, Song: Create In Me A Clean Heart) I know that my heart can often become unclean because of temptation and giving into it, so I ask God to create in me a clean heart. I cannot do this, but God alone through my faith in Him. And even though I may have strayed from His presence, I trust in God that He will hear my confessions and renew in me a right Spirit once again. I repent and ask God to not cast me away from His presence, although I am worthy of death. If you love God, then you would also do the same thing.
This popular Christian song by Keith Green comes from verses in Psalm, chapter 51. It reads, “create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.” (Psalm 51:10-12) It is my prayer that God does not take the Holy Spirit from me. He is able to see everything we do in life and at any moment He could remove our names from the Lamb’s book of life. However, this does not happen to people who continue to showcase their faith in Jesus on a day by day basis. He can see that our flesh is weak and we need His presence in our lives in order to fully resist temptation. Therefore, He restores unto those who love Him the joy of His salvation. We are then upheld by His continual Spirit in our lives. Only through the Lord’s presence can we stop willfully sinning and be made right in God’s sight. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am grateful for Your mercy. Without You in my life, I am so broken and lost. My heart is made dark and the Holy Spirit is grieved. However, I know that You will never forsake me, although I can forsake You. So I plead to You in all my confessions, the moment I know that I am in sin, to forgive me a sinner and renew in me a right Spirit. Lord, do not cast me off from Your presence when I fall. I am sorry for not listening to You while doing my own things. You are my King and I ought to honor You more than I do now. But I am not empty and left desolate in these troubled times. Just like the prodigal son, I run back to You if ever I have sinned against You. May the Holy Spirit always be with me, God. See my heart and that it is sincere. Therefore, restore unto me the joy of thy salvation. I love You, Jesus. Without You, I am nothing. I could gain the abundance riches of this world, but all that means nothing if You are not leading me. I will follow You, Jesus. Amen.
