The ten commandments are still very important for us today. People may say they are not, but let’s read God’s Word and be the judge. What is very odd is that every one of the ten commandments are also taught in the New Testament and still these people think this. Now, as for these important laws, here is number nine, “thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.“ (Exodus 20:16) This means to not lie to people, no matter how large or small the lie is. So if we did something at work that could jeopardize our job, we own up to it and not lie if we are asked about it. If our spouse is suspecting that we are looking at porn and ask us, we should not lie about that also, but openly tell them the truth and say that we need help. Pointing out the faults of others, while you not doing anything about your own sinful ways makes you a liar. Bearing false witness can also mean say untruthful things about other people, which God really hates. So what should we be doing as Christians? Paul said, “wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.” (Ephesians 4:25) Remember this in your daily life.
Speaking the truth to people is as important as speaking the truth about people. Doing the opposite is breaking this ninth commandment and telling God that His laws don’t matter to you. So what do you think God does with unrepentance liars when they die? Them, along with the rest of the wicked will be thrown into the lake of fire after judgment is all set. They are not heaven-bound since they did not get right with God in this life. Jesus said, “he that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) This does not have to be you. Instead, you can be washed and be made clean through the blood of Jesus. Come on bended knee and confess your sins, while asking for forgiveness and He will transform your life. God’s mercy is for everyone that will call upon His Name. Don’t miss your opportunity to be saved. The Lord is waiting for you to come to Him. Jesus is Lord and wants to become Your Savior. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, come and set us free from every bad habit, addiction, and other sinful ways. I don’t wish to sin willfully against You, God, and I pray that others in the faith feel the same way. Help us not fall victim to different sins, while also justifying them because of how they make us feel inside. Truly, Satan wants people to feel this way in order to put a stronghold on their lives. But Lord, You are stronger than any evil force that may come at us. All of these wicked and abominable temptations can have no effect on us if we are living for You. When I live each day for You I feel less tempted to do evil. You have put Your Spirit in me and I am able to live a life that pleases You. Thank You, Lord. I am not perfect in any way but am grateful that You have given me a mighty defense against the enemy. Today, You have put the ninth commandment on my mind and I am so grateful. I used to say, “just kidding”, all the time to everyone around me, but now I know that this is lying and I resist saying it at all costs. You are the one that helps me not say this, but to also not lie in the first place. Thank You, God, for changing me and for giving me new desires. I love You, Lord. Amen.
