It was when Mary visited Elizabeth, her cousin, that John leaped for joy in Elizabeth’s womb. This is because Jesus had just entered the room, being in his mother Mary’s womb. It was at this moment that Mary rejoiced in the Lord, even in her future Son and King of all kings. She said, “and Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.” (Luke 1:46-50) All generations have called Mary blessed, although some people have taken it a little too far in worship. Now it is good to revere Mary as the mother of Jesus. Holy is the name of Jesus and His mercy is for all people. Amen.
Mary continued with her rejoicing and praise to the Lord of all and said, “He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.” (Luke 1:51-55 ) Mary knew through the Holy Spirit that her Son Jesus is the God of Abraham, of which to him and his seed. How nobody who is proud will be able to be partakers of His joy. Only those who are hungry will He feed. Being rich doesn’t help either, but those who remember the Lord and His mercy. This is a song of praise to our God. I love to read these words and also sing them aloud to my God. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I give You praise and honor. I no longer can keep these praises to myself. All the world must know that You are God and that all other gods are false in Your sight. I surrender to You, God. My heart is for You. I love Your ways. Lead me in the ways of righteousness and holiness. Cast every wicked thing from my life and fill me with Your love. As I walk, guide me in Your bounteous light. Keep my feet on solid ground, that I might not fall. My flesh is weak, but the Holy Spirit in me makes me strong to resist temptation. So please come and lead me from temptation, that I might not quench the Spirit. I have fallen so many times, but because of Your mercy they are in the past. As my sins are now left in the dark, cast them off from me forever. Your Spirit is what I need to declare the good of Your gospel to every person in my city, nation, and all the world. I love You, Jesus. You are my God, and I worship You in this season and forevermore. Amen.
