Each one of us has something important to do in God’s kingdom. We have all been given different spiritual gifts, but one thing we all have in common is being a witness for Jesus. As believers in Jesus, we are to all be a light for Him in this darkened world. To know more about this calling from God to everyone in the church, Paul said, I “charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:1-4) Many people are living after the lusts of their flesh, but God’s true believers in Him walk in the Spirit and not the flesh. We also not shy when it comes to sharing our faith in Jesus with others.
Paul continued and said, “but watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:5-8) What Paul is trying to tell us is that we will be ridiculed and persecuted as a devoted Christian. But all that matters is if we win the race or not and be with Jesus forever in heaven when we die. Can you say as Paul said also that you have fought a good fight and finished the course that God has set before you? This is what I am striving for each and every day of my life and the reason that I write daily devotionals. I want more people to know Jesus personally and be saved. There are blessings awaiting those who lived and died for Him. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, my God, and my delight. I worship You. I give You praise. You are worthy. Have Your way in me, my King. Set me on Your righteous and holy path this day and forever. Keep my eyes fixed on You, Jesus. I am able to distinguish the light from the darkness when You are working through me. I love You, Lord. You are so good to me, even though I never always deserved it. It is awesome to know that You want to do great things through me, even though I have sinned greatly in Your sight in the past. Your forgiveness and mercy is beyond my understanding. How patient and long-suffering are You? I am just so grateful to be Your servant on earth. I pray that every person that I am able to talk to will have an open heart to at least one day receive You. May more people be saved and go to heaven also when they die. This I pray, in Your mighty Name, Jesus. Amen.
