Today we will look at part three of the message, “Jesus’s Prayer To The Father”. Three messages because there is so much to grasp from this prayer. Putting my thoughts all into one message would be too much. Therefore, let us look at the ending of this prayer and allow what Jesus said to uplift us and help our walk in the faith. He prayed, “I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for themalso which shall believe on me through their word.” (John 17:14-20) He mentioned that the world will hate us because of the words of Jesus in us, which come from the Bible. Our lives are living examples of our faith in Jesus, and the Lord desires that we are kept from evil. That we are sanctified by God’s truth. He also desires that others will come to faith and believe in Him also. This we ought to pray for our family and friends who do not know Jesus yet or have left the faith. We pray for them as Jesus did also.
Now, in closing, Jesus prayed the following, “that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:21-26) It is Jesus’s desire that we might become one in the faith and one with Jesus and the Father. Even the glory that Jesus received He also gives us to. Only by abiding in Jesus can we be made perfect through Him. He was sent from the Father into the world, in order to save us from our sins. As Jesus magnified the Father, we do the same. We also desire to have His love in our lives, the same way He loves His Son. What a beautiful prayer. Please ponder upon what you just read. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, keep us safe from the evil one. Help us to never fall victim to Satan’s evil schemes. Our joy and comfort come from You. We don’t need what the world offers to make us happy, for You have brought all the joy, peace, and love into our lives that we need. We are truly satisfied without the luxuries of this world because Your presence is ever with us. Our treasures are made in heaven, not on earth. To seek You first is the greatest decision I have ever made and I pray that more people will do the same. Then, can they also know what You have said in scripture and allow Your words to change their lives. I may not be well-liked when it comes to people in the world, for my standards come from You alone. When I go out and preach the gospel there are many scoffers and people who very much dislike the message of the gospel. But I know that You are looking for the one who will receive You, which drives me to witness and go out on the streets. May more people come to faith and discover Your truths for themselves. What a glorious day it will be for them when they finally find You also, Jesus. It is my prayer that these new converts to the faith and others that have been around for some time will all come to a unity in the faith. That we will become one in the church, as You are one in the Father. Allow us to become one with You also Jesus and Yours, and our Father also. We worship You and give You praise. We honor You this day and forever. We love You. Amen.
