There are many people in scripture who showed a ton of faith. One such person was a woman who was very sick because of her issues with blood. According to the scriptures, she had this diagnosis of the “issue of blood” for over 12 years. This must have made her feel terrible inside, however, she still had hope. You see, she believed in Jesus and His healing power. And if she could just touch his clothes, she knew for sure she would be healed. How awesome is this faith? Now, let’s read what she was thinking and look into her faith again. The story goes like this… “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” (Mark 5:25-28) Wow! Imagine how she must have been feeling after seeing many different doctors, but none of them could help her situation, but make it worse. I am sure you have felt this also, and wish that doctors would finally give you what you need to be healed. This is where her faith in Jesus was increased, and I pray that yours will be also. She was right that Jesus was the only person who could really heal her, and I pray that we will continue to call upon people in the church to pray over us also, along with continuing to seek Jesus for healing in constant prayer and supplication.
The story continues with a bright spot for this woman. After “she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole,” (Mark 5:28) this is what happened next. “And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” (Mark 5:29-34) Wow! What a great ending! Can you believe just thinking that Jesus could heal you, and immediately, because of your prayers and others, you were made whole, just like her? This can happen for you, for Jesus is still our healer now, as He was then. Now, just imagine how her faith in God increased after being healed by Jesus in person. And imagine how much greater your faith will become when the Lord starts to do miracles in your life and others you reach. We may not see Jesus like she did, but we know that He is still there for us and will answer our prayers. Therefore, we call upon His Name daily in constant prayer, for ourselves and others.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, even now we come to You, knowing that You can heal us like You did while You were with the people on earth. Not just for me do I pray, but for others who are suffering in this darkened world. At Your table, we bring unto You all our illnesses, small and great, and ask that You will relieve us of these sicknesses. Though we suffer now, we know that You have the power to cure us of the harshest chronic illnesses. I know that You do not wish to see us suffer but to bring us instant relief. Therefore, please come and heal my sicknesses of the throat and nose. And not just me, but my sister who is terribly sick and cannot find healing based on prescription drugs. She believes in You, and I know that You can heal her Lord. But not just her and me, but also another friend who can’t talk very well because of his sicknesses in his throat. Lord, many people are suffering because of the different coronavirus cases and we ask that You be their person of refuge in these difficult times. So many people in this world need You. Jesus, as well I do daily. Even every hour do I need You. You are the rock of my salvation. My fortress and my refuge in the storms. I have no need to fear, for You are there for me. One day I know that all the sicknesses and diseases will be no more. In death, You will come and wipe away all the tears from our eyes. There will be no more sorrow or death. What a wonderful place You are preparing for those who love You. I believe in You, Jesus. I love You. Amen.
