The gift of God for all believers is salvation and to be with Him in heaven. This is the place where every person who could just experience the joys there, would all clamor in line to be there first. There would be no dissension among people about this place any longer. All the lies about hell being where the best people go so it will be one big party, that would be squashed right away. Also, if people could just see the fiery depths of hell, they would not want to go there. Now, as for this message, we will focus our time on the most wonderful place called heaven and also a place called paradise. Paradise, or Abraham’s bosom, is where the righteous souls go as they await the judgment seat of Christ. For everyone will be judged by Christ the Lord. Now, people in hell will not be able to go to paradise, for there is a gulf afflicted between the souls that are suffering and those who are now in paradise. We learn this in the story of the rich man and Lazarus. It reads, 2“and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” (Luke 16:20-26) So we are comforted in paradise.
Some may say that we no longer have to go paradise first, but why then did Jesus say to the man on the cross, 3“today shalt thou be with me in paradise”? (Luke 23:42) Anyhow, paradise will be a great place for all believers to stay at, even where the Lord’s presence will be also. This we will be until our time of judgment before Jesus is ready. Now Paul wrote, 7“we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” (2 Corinthians 5:8-11) This is where we will receive different gifts from God, depending on what we did for Him on earth. What are these things, you may wonder? Well, Jesus said, 4“let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3) So we know that a gift from God is a mansion that he is currently preparing for us now, even by the hands of His angels. Other gifts we can’t even comprehend, but they will be absolutely amazing. This we know since Paul also said, 6“Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9) The question now goes for every person. Do you love Jesus? If so, then God has something great in store for you also in heaven. So start living for Jesus and do His will, for this is loving the Lord God.
And now that judgment is passed and the elect of God are now allowed into God’s heavenly kingdom, here is what it will be like. John wrote, 8“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation 21:1-7) 9“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:1-5) Wow! What a most glorious place heaven will be like.
We know that in heaven there will be no more tears, nor death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. We will be made new, where nothing will harm us again. So who goes to heaven? Paul said, 5“that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) 5“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) Jesus said, 1“lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” (Matthew 6:19-22) While Jesus also said, 9“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” (Revelation 22:13,14) 9“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17) Those that confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and continue to rely on Him in prayer are saved. These same people are building up God’s kingdom, while they serve Him. These are the heavenly treasures that they are building up for themselves. And lastly, these people do not live in sin but keep God’s commandments. It is only by doing this that they can enter through the gates to the holy city and be able to eat of the tree of life. So if heaven is where you want to go, then come to Jesus today. He is calling for You now to repent of your sins and start trusting in Him as Lord of your life.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people will get right with You before this life is set and done. All I know is that this life is short. Therefore, live each day to serve You. I have joy in my life while in Your service. There is love in my life when I am seeking You. I have peace when I find You in prayer. Even my burdens are made light because You carry them for me. This life may be filled with sorrow, sickness, and pain, but I know that all this for a brief moment, for in heaven, all these issues with the flesh will gone and done with. Even our pains will be no more. All our sorrows will be over. I will have no more need to cry, for my joy is in the Lord who saves. What a wonderful time this will be to be with You, even forever in Your kingdom. Lord, if it was Your will I would say take me as I am now. Into paradise, take me where You are. I want to be where You are now and forever. I don’t care for the things of this world any longer, but the things that will last in heaven. Therefore, I am so happy that You have bestowed upon my life these spiritual gifts. I may not have been able to serve You faithfully before, but now I am more than able. You have taken every fleshly sin nature from my being and replaced it with Your holiness. Therefore, I do not wish to live in willful sin anymore but to walk in Your standards of purity. I know that no unclean thing can enter Your kingdom, so I pray that You will cleanse me with Your blood, Jesus. Cleanse me of all wickedness, that I may better serve You and not fall back into my formal lifestyle. It is my desire to endure all my days in a saving relationship with You, Jesus. Help me all rest of my days. And please take me into paradise, when my life is done, even by the hands of Your angels. I wish to be with You and even see You in judgment. It will please me more than ever to hear You say, well done thou good and faithful servant, where I will enter Your heavenly abode forever. I love You, Lord. Where You are I want to be. Amen.
