How often do I wonder why people that say they are Christians later on in their life commit suicide. And I ask this question to myself and others in all respect to loved ones that have gone through this tragedy in their family or having had a friend of theirs kill themselves. This is grievous in every possible way and hard to cope with, but also needs to be addressed. The reason is, there is often given a false security to loved ones and friends, by telling them that the person is in a good place. Because they believed, they are saved and in heaven now. This might sound nice and sweet on the outside, but really it is only deceiving people into believing in false hope for that individual. How is this? Two reason. #1 This person who killed themself did not endure in their faith till the end. #2 The act of killing one self is murder, which God hates. So let us address both of these issues and compare and contrast them with what the Bible says, since it is our main authority from God. It was Jesus that said the following, 2“and because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13,14) Since the time of His ascension into heaven and until His second coming, people will fall away because of iniquity or sin in their life. This is why their love and endurance for the things of God often comes to an end before it was supposed to. So Jesus laid it all out for us if we really want to be saved, and all it takes is faith in Him and enduring in the faith. I am not saying this, but God. So if a person kills themself, they have not endured in the faith, but cancelled themselves from God and doing His will.
The act of Suicide is very sad indeed. Not only does this selfish act cause people to grieve, but also causes the same person that killed themself to grieve over their new condition when they wake up in hell. Now, you may think that I am being a little judgmental here. However, I am not at doing this at all. I am only saying it as it should be, in order to wake people up to the travesty of what is happening in suicide. This should cause people to rethink things and convict them to the heart like a knife. Please know that all sin can be forgiven by God, but if people kill themselves, then there is no more forgiveness. The reason is that they committed murder and is no longer alive to repent. You see, in death we cannot repent. Only on earth do we have this opportunity. So, killing oneself is forfeiting our salvation with God. We are then put in the same category as the unbelievers in God’s sight. This is serious stuff and should get people thinking, before taking their lives. Jesus also said the following regarding murder, 4“blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” (Revelation 22:14,15) Please know that it is 3“a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31) The outcome of people that commit murder without repentence is the same for those that die in suicide. God said, 1“thou shalt not kill.” (Exodus 20:13) This means others and ourselves. So please take this topic seriously and start living for God today. If you wish to be saved, then you need to endure in the faith until the end. The Lord will help you through this time. God bless you.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for every person that is lost because of sin and depression, even those people that are on the verge of committing suicide. Surely, there is hope for them still, but they must make an effort to come unto You, Jesus. Then, can you showcase Your great love and mercy in their lives. They may think that they are far gone, because of their sins and trials they are facing, but all this can change in a moment that they begin looking to You in faith. For all things that are good come when a person simply believes and allows You to lead their lives. Oh, how good are Your works in our lives. We may be struggling with different things, but even these things make sense, when You become our King. Yes Lord, You are my Redeemer and Savior. Thank You for taking me from a life of sin and changing my wicked ways. I had no way of my addictions, but You were able to come and break the chains. All my bondage is no more, for You came and put it all on Your shoulders. How great is Your mercy. How great is Your love. How great is Your kindness. How great is Your compassion. There is no one like You, God. We have forgiveness, because of Your sacrifice for sins on the cross. We didn’t deserve Your mercy and grace, but still You saw us in our lowly state and had compassion. Thank You Lord. Thank You for considering my life to be special, even though I could not see it this way. Only You could see that I still have potential and give me renewed hope for tomorrow. I love You Lord. You are my greatest delight. I can now go on in faith, because You are my strength. I praise You, Lord. All the honor and glory to Your holy Name, Jesus. Amen.
