It was recorded by Isaiah that those in Jerusalem would soon leave their first love. Instead of following after God and obeying His commandments, they would do the opposite and follow after the flesh. He mentioned that they would soon be mixed with the evil doers, as they commit sexual immorality, focus on riches, drink to get drunk, steal and covet. Here it is recorded, 1“how is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.” The people’s hearts would soon become very wicked, indeed. However, in all this wickedness, do think the Lord cared about what was to happen? You might say so, as the Bible reads, 1“Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.” Those that forget God and walk in their wicked and vile ways will be judged harshly, come death, and then 2thrown into the lake of fire, in which they will experience a second death. It is only God’s people that will be redeemed through the blood of Jesus. These are those that turned from their sins and allowed His blood to cover them and make them whole again.
The things that were previously mentioned concerning the people of Jerusalem also apply to us. We will not get a free pass just because we say we believe in Jesus. Our sins will be counted against us, as well, in judgement. Every vile act that we have committed will be recorded and then used against us, unless we have been forgiven. This goes for every person that looks at pornography, has sex outside of marriage, commits adultery, builds there life around riches and not the things of God, is addicted to alcohol, steals and covets. It is more than just being a believer at face value, but to also live out our faith and, in the process, forsake every wicked thing. If we, instead, do what we want and put aside God’s laws, then we are covered by the blood of Jesus. Instead, we are staining our head to the bottom of our toes. And if this does not change, then the wickedness of this world will consume our lives. Only God can come and scatter the darkness therein. If you are have allowed sexual sin to creep into your life, then God’s wrath is upon you. If you are among those people that are rich in the world and not God, then God’s wrath is upon you. If you steal, in order to gain what you desire, God’s wrath is upon you. If you covet things in general, then God’s wrath is upon you. Sinners will not escape hell and the judgment bar of Christ. Evil and wicked deeds need to be eliminated from our lives and only God can do this. Read the Bible and pray often, and the Lord will deliver you.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I am so blessed to know You. To have your power and protection in my life is so important to me. Without Your presence I’d be a sitting duck to the temptations of the Devil. I know how he entraps us and makes us feel that there is no escape. You know this as well, for this was my life for many years. Because I allowed sexual sin to come into my life, I had no shield to protect myself. Nothing I could do was able to withstand the fiery darts of Satan. I tried many things and failed miserably in the process. And what I know God is that without your strength, I am surely week. I cannot overcome the darkness without You. It wasn’t until I began reading the Bible daily and praying often that Your presence came into my life. In the process, I became convicted, because of my sins, and then turned to You for deliverance. Though my sins were heavy, You made took them away from me and made my burdens light. You took away my desires for porn and this changed everything. Now my eyes have been opened. I can see the worth inside of every soul. This has helped me love one another and in the meantime, my love for You has grown. Thank You God for forgiving me of my sins. I am so grateful for Your mercy and for helping me become the person I am today. It is through Your power that I am delivered. I am so grateful. I love You Lord. Amen.
