Thou Art My Son; This Day Have I Begotten Thee

God the Father has sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to the world. There was a wonderful purpose in this decision and it was to save every person from their sins. Out of the Father’s great love for all mankind, He sent the Lord Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary and the prophesy of Him coming into the world was fulfilled. In Psalm 2:7, David speaks of the Father sending His son, 1“Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.” This prophesy was fulfilled when Jesus, the Messiah, came into the world. In John 3:16, Jesus speaks of why He was went. 3“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” In Hebrews 5:5, the writer of Hebrews records, 6“So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.” It was God that begot the Son, Jesus, and Jesus gave His Father all the glory. Lastly, in Acts 13:33-34, Paul records, 4“God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption.” Jesus was born, died on the cross for our sins and then raised up again by the Father.

Jesus is the Messiah and was sent by His Father. He was spoken of and prophesied for many generations until He finally came. With the coming of our Lord Jesus, it is very important to follow Him for salvation. 2However, as we are all born into sin, the fleshly nature in us all, keeps most people from following Him and doing His will. In John 3:18-21, Jesus said, 3“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” It is vital that we all repent and confess our sins in prayer. In our humility, Jesus’s blood cleanses us from all our sins. Trusting in Jesus causes a transformation to take place in our lives. 5The Spirit comes into our lives and we know longer desire to serve sin but live in the light of Christ. In Acts 13:38, Paul spoke of the forgiveness that Jesus offers. 4“Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins.” The most important sacrifice of all was when Jesus died for sins on the cross. Through Him, there is mercy and grace. As Hebrews 5:9 says, Jesus is 6“the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him.”

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, the Spirit moves me to follow You. Your presence has come over me and given me new desires and a new heart. I am now able to live differently and fight for a better cause. Yes Lord, Your Spirit has transformed my life and raised me up into newness of life. Because You have come and cleansed me from all sin, I no longer desire to serve sin but to follow You, my Lord. With Your presence in my life, I can withstand temptation and live differently. I can live humbly in Your great love. I know that I am not without sin but there is also a new will inside of me to fight against it. Your light is so precious to me that I never want to go back into darkness. Thank You Jesus for being led by the Father and coming to this earth to pay the price for sins. You made it all possible for us to repent and be made clean. Because of the cross, there is forgiveness and grace. All of this is made possible because of the Father’s love and Your love for us all. Those that know You and follow You have hope for a new day. We Love You and trust in You, Jesus. Amen.
