It was great to go out knocking doors this day with Joan. Though many people weren’t home on this beautiful sunny day we were able to talk to a few people. Many people wanted us to pray for others and the military but didn’t want prayers for themselves. I am happy that their desire was to have others be blessed from God, through prayer, but hope that they also desire God’s blessings in their lives. We may not think that we have needs from God, through others, but each of us do. Many of us struggle with different trials and need the blessings of God to go forward in life. God gives us the sense of direction that we are missing. Other people we knocked at told us they already had a church and was not interested in hearing about what we had to say about Jesus. They felt that what they receive at church, each week, is enough. I am here to say that God desires that we learn of Him each day and not just at church. If someone approaches us for prayer we should be ready to receive it. It is good to be blessed from God by others in prayer. If someone wants to share God’s word we should be open to receive it. Our ears need to be open to listen to others. We should always be willing to receive more knowledge from God and His gospel in our lives. It is up to us to be humble enough to receive Christ’s message of hope. If we aren’t open to listen to others in the faith we may miss out on much more that God has in store for each of us. Listen to God and obey His counsel.
Before our day ended we talked with three wonderful people outside their home. One of them was an evangelist. We were happy to hear that he had a heart to share the gospel. He was doing things for God, in sharing the gospel, and not just taking it in for himself. We encouraged the people with him to go church and listen to what he has to say about Jesus. That He is the way and we are only His messengers. Joan offered to share the “three circles” with him but she didn’t get a chance to. I offered to share the bridge with him and he obliged. I told him that we are all separated from God because of sin but because of the cross we are able to be forgiven. The cross brings us from death to life. We both encouraged him to open his heart to knew things to share with others. The last house we went to was this lady named Linda. I had been to her doorstep before and remembered her wonderful smile and openness to talk with us. So we knocked her door and again she greeted us with so much warmth and love. We offered to pray for her but she was busy at the moment watching the Mormon General Conference on TV. So instead we asked if we could return and share a message with her and anyone else that would like to participate, like the LDS missionaries, if that was more comfortable with her. So we scheduled a time to come back next week to discuss more. Thank You Lord for blessing us this day. It was wonderful to talk to people about You. You are the one who saves. I am grateful to be Your vessel to share Your message of hope. I love You.
James 1:19-23 (KJV)
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
