Fornication Is A Grievous Sin

In life, we can either walk in the ways of the world or in the ways of God. We must make our decisions now on what life we want to lead. Saying we believe in Jesus isn’t enough. God looks at the heart and if it is filthy He knows. Sin grieves the Spirit and that lifestyle drives Him away. The lusts of the flesh can get out of control if God isn’t at the head of our lives. The day we walk in our own paths is when we can easily get mixed up in things we shouldn’t. Things like pornography and other sexual sin can creep in. Drugs and alcohol can also take your time away from God. Since the beginning, people fell into their own ways. Their love for one another trumped what God’s word says. Meaning, if they felt they were in love with someone they had the right to live with them before marriage. God would forgive them if they just committed fornication once. However, there lifestyle doesn’t stop there and continues into a way of living and thinking. This same thing happened with Shechem and Dinah in the Bible. “And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.” Because lust overcame him he didn’t see any harm with having sex before marriage. However, this caused discord between two of the brothers of Dinah and in turn they killed Shechem “because they had defiled their sister.” This didn’t need to happen. Anyone living a life in this manner, let it go now. It is isn’t worth the consequences. All this will do is bring a barrier between you and God. Repent and come to Jesus. Let Him tear down your walls.

Sex before marriage is unlawful in the eyes of God. The very act defiles a woman. It violates her chastity, she is keeping for marriage. Living with someone we love outside of marriage is a grievous sin. Fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God if they were to die in their sins. If you love someone, you will wait till marriage for sex. You will keep intimacy between husband and wife. For many years, I was not free of this grievous act. I was caught up in fornication and pornography. Sexual sin ruled the way I thought and acted around people. My life with God could not be found. My desires was for my flesh and to feel pleasure. That was all that mattered. All this crashed down on me once my wife discovered my second life through texts. She confronted me in my shame and embarrassment. Though I denied it several times I finally opened up about these messages and told her that I was sorry. I also told her that I was addicted to pornography. During our talk I told her that I wanted to fix things for I chose her over this other girl. This knowledge caused an earthquake in our marriage except for the fact it answered her questions on why I had acted the way I had for many years. The great wife she is, she stuck with me through it through she may not have wanted to. Soon after opening up about my sins I began praying and reading the Bible. I knew how wicked my life was but knew Jesus could deliver me from my addictions. I accepted Him in my heart and He changed my life forever. With His mercy and grace He cleansed my soul. I no longer walk in guilt but in the love of Christ. For He came for me and rescued me. Thank You Jesus, for Your love. In my tears, I could feel Your mercy. Thank You for forgiving me though I was so far from You. You are so gracious and kind. I put my life in Your hands. Have Your way in me. I love You.

Genesis 34:1-4, 25-27 (KJV)
1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.
2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.
4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.
25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.
26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went out.
27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.
