There are times when our faith is tried in order to see how faithful we are to God. Sometimes it is a small thing that we go through. We may be with a group of friends or co-workers that aren’t using the best language. We could either step away, tell them we don’t like what they are saying or engage with them. An easy way out would be to step away and sometimes this is best. If the circumstances are unsafe we should get away. If we are with friends or at work then just stepping away won’t solve the issue. This occurrences will continue time and again unless we either tell them how we feel or engage with them in their speaking. Going on in conversation using fall language will make them feel like you enjoy what they are saying. Many people do this and don’t even realize how the Lord feels about it. Through our words we can easily offend God. We must stand strong and tell people that cursing offends us. We need to put up our guard up and say something when it goes against our faith. By standing up for God, you will be a light in this darken world. This generation needs us to be examples of living the Word of God. His words will make us true disciples of Him. We will have no fear for God is with us. His perfect love will cast out all fear. When our faith is on the line, stay strong in the Lord and He will give you words to say. You have strength to stand your ground. We need to be fervent in prayer and let the Lord direct our lives. Only through God can we be delivered from sin. Seek Him and He will never let you go.
Sometimes our faith is tested and it is hard to resist temptation. Satan knows what makes us tick and will do his best to bring us down to his level. He will entrap us with addictions like drugs and pornography. These things take so many Christians away from God each day. Our faith is tried more so by these lustful cravings than any person filling our mind with doubts about our beliefs. We may have something already prepared when someone doubts what we believe and come around feeling good about ourselves. However, when our flesh is put to the test we must have on the full armor of God on or else we will fall. I was once overcome by the addiction of pornography. Because I didn’t always pray and read the Bible I couldn’t resist. I was hooked for many years until I took it up with God. I was tied down in chains and was made to think that I could never be forgiven. However, I knew the Lord could change my life. I committed to praying and reading His words and after many months I was set free. Things in life try us in order to see if we really “Fear God”. Abraham, was tested with having to sacrifice his son Isaac. This would have been so hard but he did all the Lord asked until an Angel of the Lord stopped him. If we could all be like Abraham and not give in to our fears. I am so thankful that the Lord delivered me from addiction. I needed Him so desperately and He came for me. For this I live each day to follow my Lord. I may go through trials but I know that I can get through them with God on my side.
Genesis 22:1-12
Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.
And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”
So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together.
But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.
And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”
And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
