The love manifested between man and woman is an instinct given by God. From the beginning God created man and woman to love one another. The feelings we get when we are around our significant other are amazing. Just looking into their eyes can carry us away into new heights. The touch of their hands can give us chills for we are overcome with so much joy. These were the same feelings that Isaac and Rebecca had when they first saw each other. It is recorded that “Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.” As she gazed at Isaac she asked “What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us?” After discovering it was Isaac, the servants master, she was caught up in radiant love and took a veil to cover herself. It was this same feeling of immense happiness that came over Isaac as he “brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her.” This joy and happiness is what God has in store for us all. He desires for us all to be happy. When we find the love of our lives it is His will that we cherish them for the rest of our lives. Even when hard times come, we are to work things out as a couple and seek the Lord often for help. Jesus, our Savior, will give us the strength to overcome all things that come into our paths. God has the power to strengthen even the weakest marriage. He can breathe new life into each person if they put their trust in Him. God not only restores us into His love but restores marriages into His light as their hearts are turned to Him.
One thing the Lord has taught me in my marriage is you can never tell your spouse I love you enough. This phrase will never get old. We can never go out of our way enough to buy our spouse flowers or chocolates, write them a note, or do extra things around the house to make their life easier. Giving them a hug, holding their hand and giving them a kiss daily will remind them how important they are to us. Going the extra mile for our spouse will help them know how much we truly love them. That we don’t just say kind things but we do them as well. If any of you are having struggles in your marriage I ask that you try these things mentioned above. Say kind things to your spouse, such as “I love you”, “you are a wonderful mother”, and make conversation about their day. This will be a great start in bringing back God’s love into your marriage. Do kind things for them as well. If you don’t have much money to buy them things, then take them on walks, help tidy up the house more often, and do things extraordinary just for them. The littlest things we do for others can really make a big difference in their lives. Oh lord, help us all to be more loving towards others. To those that are married, help us to be kinder to our spouses. Give us a daily reminder to love our spouse. Let Your love flow deep in my marriage. Strengthen it and help it flourish always. I know that with You in my life, the skies the limit for the possibilities of love my wife and I can experience. I love my wife and am grateful that she is a part of my life. I love You and praise Your Holy Name.
Genesis 24:62-67 (KJV)
62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.
63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.
65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.
