We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
The first article in the Mormon church reads, “we believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.” (The Articles Of Faith) This sounds great on paper and Biblical at that. But when we see this expanded upon is when we see some big red flags. And this is the problem with their statement of faith. They keep new believers from knowing what they really believe. We see a cover-up happening in the walls of their church, especially for new converts. How they believe in the Father, who is God, Jesus Christ, who is God, and the Holy Ghost, who is God. Three Gods in three different beings. The Father, having a body of flesh and bones, like unto the Son, but the Holy Spirit, being Spirit only. This is what they should have said in their article of faith. People should not have to find out later on after they are already invested in their religion of choice. The truth of the matter is… If anyone is coming from Christianity to Mormonism, there is an undoing of beliefs in order to conform to their new ones.
Early on, new converts would still believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one God. Three persons in one eternal being. The Father, being Spirit only, like unto the Holy Spirit, being omnipresent. Jesus, being the temple, of which they can all dwell perfectly in as one God. But no more can any of this be true. To make sure they are not contentious they just adapt to their newfound beliefs. It might be a struggle at first, but like any sin, it becomes easier the more a person justifies them. So who would wish to remove Christian roots from people and put them on a different path? This would be Satan. There are two kinds of spirits in this world. The Holy Spirit in Christianity and evil spirits in Mormonism, where evil now appears to be good. What we see in cults has happened for centuries. “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20) This is prevalent in our society, including churches like Mormonism. Amen.
We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
Mormons don’t believe in original sin. Instead, it is taught that Adam was fully forgiven by God, and therefore, people bring sin into their own lives, not from another person. They even spread a false lie through their fictional book Moses and say that Christians are lying to people about original sin. Read for yourself first in their second article of faith and then in their book of Moses. They read, “we believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.” (The Articles Of Faith) Here they deny original sin from Adam. “And our father Adam spake unto the Lord, and said: Why is it that men must repent and be baptized in water? And the Lord said unto Adam: Behold I have forgiven thee thy transgression in the Garden of Eden. Hence came the saying abroad among the people, that the Son of God hath atoned for original guilt, wherein the sins of the parents cannot be answered upon the heads of the children, for they are whole from the foundation of the world.” (Moses 6:53,54) Here, we see their book spreading false lies about Christians teaching original sin.
Everything you just read contradicts the Bible. Paul taught that sin came into the world through Adam. Therefore, all have sinned. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12) How through Adam’s disobedience to God, sin came into the world and we were made sinners. “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19) People also began to die from Adam forward. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22) So are Christians out teaching what is false about the original sin through Adam? No. Why do Mormons then teach the opposite about not everyone being a sinner? Satan has already tried to change the true beliefs of Christians. Throughout time, many people have fallen away. We see this in Mormonism, where Mormons blatantly teach the opposite of what the Bible says. They will be held accountable for everything they know and also believe. Amen.
We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
Salvation in Mormonism is by way of works. They believe they have to work their way to heaven to be saved. They even claim this in their 3rd article of faith. It reads, “we believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.” (The Articles Of Faith) And so the Mormon people rely on obeying the laws set forth in their church, along with the ordinances they perform in their temples, in order to be saved. Without doing these things, they believe nobody can be saved. That is why they feel the need to also do the same temple ordinances for dead people. Do they not realize that all this is in vain? Paul wrote, “and you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” (Colossians 2:13,14) We were once bound by ordinances, but Jesus took them away with His blood. He stamped them upon the cross. To not believe this, you have not accepted the Lord’s atoning sacrifice.
The premise of Mormons working their way to heaven comes from their beloved Book of Mormon. It reads, “for we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” (2 Nephi 25:23) And so they send off their missionaries in all the world for one reason and that is because “by grace are ye saved, after all we can do”. Do they point people to their Jesus? Yes. However, it not being the same Jesus of the Bible. Truly, Mormonism is a counterfeit. They will never do enough works on their mission or their temples to merit heaven. This is taking away what Jesus did for us on the cross. On the other hand, this is how a person is saved. Paul wrote, “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Salvation doesn’t have to be complicated, and this why the thief on the cross was saved without baptism. In conclusion, don’t trust the teachings of Mormonism. They are not of God, but of men. Amen.
We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
In Mormonism, the four principles of the gospel is Faith in Jesus, Repentance, Baptism by immersion, and laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. This comes from their fourth article of faith. It reads, “we believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (The Articles Of Faith) They get this from Acts, chapters 2 and 8, which reads… “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) “Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 8:15-17)
This is in comparison to Christianity. The gospel is that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave. This is vital to teach and understand. As for the principles of the gospel, those are different than in Mormonism. This is faith, repentance, baptisms (water and Holy Spirit), laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. It is written, “therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.” (Hebrews 6:1-3) As you can see, in Mormonism they leave out baptisms, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgments. As for believers, we continue to grow in the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to move and shape our lives. Notice how Mormons are stuck on four principles and cannot move past them. Amen.
We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
Mormons would like you to believe that only people that hold the priesthood can preach the gospel, and do ordinances? In their 5th article of faith, it reads, “we believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.” (The Articles Of Faith) However, what they really are saying is that priests are still necessary, even when Jesus ended the need to do animal sacrifices with His atonement on the cross. This is why we had priests. And what ordinances, you may ask? These are their temple endowments, and eternal marriage ceremonies, which are for them and the dead. Is this of God? Of course not. Do they care? No. They believe in it so it must be right? Instead of God pouring out His Spirit upon people, causing them to preach, they believe they must be ordained to this by the laying on of hands first. Is this ridiculous? Yep.
So instead of people having to be called by God through prophecy, Christians are called by God when the Holy Spirit falls upon them. A person does not have to have someone lay their hands upon them first, for God has already called them into His ministry Himself. Therefore, these excited and bold believers go out willfully and preach His gospel. Not being told to do this by someone, but because the Holy Spirit is leading them. And no, we don’t do ordinances in temples made with hands, especially works for dead people. This is necromancy. It is written, “and he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:7,8) And the Holy Spirit is flowing upon preachers in all the world.
Lastly, Timothy was not ordained by anyone but was still called out by Paul to preach the gospel. “I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2 Timothy 4:1-5) My friends, don’t believe the lies in Mormonism. Read the Bible and you will know that God doesn’t tie us down to a man that has to lay his hands upon us first. If you are wrapped up in this cult, get out while you still have time. Amen.
We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
Mormons believe in a church with prophets at the head, apostles below them, and seventy below these individuals. Then comes stake presidents, bishops under them, and teachers under them. Lastly, they have mission presidents where missionaries are under them. They are all about a hierarchy like we see in any big business. This belief comes from their 6th Article of Faith, which reads, “we believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.” (The Articles Of Faith) This thought process comes from the following. “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” (Ephesians 4:11-14)
Notice that Mormons do not mention Jesus when it comes to His body and His church as it reads in Ephesians. But what they don’t realize is the body of Christ is much different than what they ever thought. Paul also taught, “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” (1 Corinthians 12:27-31) Notice how apostles are most important, not prophets. This is because an apostle is not a gift from God, but means a firsthand witness of Jesus. Are there firsthand witnesses of Jesus in the Mormon church? No. What comes next in the church are gifts. Prophesy, like healings, tongues, and more are gifts of the spirit. Christ’s church isn’t governed by anyone specific. He governs it collectively. Pastors of churches are led by Jesus like others in his body. This is Christ’s church. Amen.
We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
Mormons believe they have gifts of the Spirit in their church, but still, they change and remove the real gifts that are spoken of in 1 Corinthians 12, by the Apostle Paul. In this chapter, we learn of the following gifts of the Spirit. Word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, divers kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues. This is in comparison to the Mormon church which teaches the following. “We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.” (The Articles Of Faith) Notice how they add revelation and visions while leaving out the word of wisdom, knowledge, faith, working of miracles, and discerning of spirits. This is a huge difference and a restored church from the original would not add and remove from the true gifts of the Spirit.
The apostle Paul wrote, “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-10)
There is a reason why Mormons would add revelation and visions to the gifts of the spirit. This is because they believe in latter-day prophets that lead and guide their church with that revelation and visions from god. It is interesting how they leave out the true word of wisdom from God but still make up their man-made word of wisdom as prophecy from their god. Do they not realize that God giving us wisdom is a gift of the Spirit? The same goes for knowledge, Faith, working miracles, and discerning of good and evil spirits. Every one of God’s gifts of the Spirit should be sought after and not say it is no longer for Christ’s church today. I will testify that the gifts of the Spirit are missing in the Mormon religion. They have a form of a spirit with them but it is not of God. I am talking about the demonic realm. Those in the Christian community can see this. Amen.
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
There is a huge reason why the majority of Mormons have doubts about the Bible. This is because of their 8th article of faith. It reads, “we believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.” (The Articles Of Faith) Notice how they say that the Bible is not translated correctly, but the Book of Mormon is. Interestingly, “almost 4,000 editing corrections have been made to the Book of Mormon since the first publication in 1830.” (Understanding the Process of Publishing the Book of Mormon) This religion also says the following, “and although errors do appear in various renderings from the original Hebrew and Greek, the bigger issue is that in the delivery of the ancient texts to the present day, “many plain and precious things [were] taken away” (1 Nephi 13:28). So, as the Bible texts were transmitted to us, certain teachings were lost. That’s one reason people have so many different interpretations of the Bible, as Joseph Smith experienced (see Joseph Smith—History 1:12). So one way modern revelation helps clarify and confirm the truths in the Bible is by restoring other truths that were lost. (What does the eighth article…)
As you can see by what Mormons and their article of faith says, they believe and teach that the Bible has many missing and important truths that we need for today. Therefore, Mormons lie to their members by saying that they have new teachings that were lost. How God has restored these plain and precious truths in their church only. What they don’t like is how Christianity for the last two thousand years has taught in the inerrancy of scripture. How we have exactly what God has preserved for us, not that we need anything more. Surely, “every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:5,6) “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17) Don’t let people tell you that certain books shouldn’t be in the Bible just because they personally don’t like the book for different reasons. For example, Mormons hate the Song of Solomon, although it is helpful for intimacy in marriage. We can trust the Bible. Amen.
We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
Mormons are leaving out a lot when it comes to their 9th article of faith. It reads, “we believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.” (The Articles Of Faith) Now, let’s properly examine what their article of faith actually says and means. What they don’t tell you in their statement of faith is that they are speaking of the apostles and prophets in their church. However, this is mostly concerning their latter-day prophets, which teach that people should heed and follow them and their counsel for mankind. Even if it means that these people teach things that are contrary to the Bible, you are to still believe it. The truth of the matter is that prophets are not leading any church today. The only person leading a church is Jesus, although God uses us differently. As for Joseph Smith, he had countless numbers of false prophesies while saying he was a prophet. You can read about those false prophesies HERE.
See for yourself that the importance of the laws of Moses, and prophets leading God’s people, ended with John. The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” (Luke 16:16) Those that are filled with the Spirit of God are now pressing into the kingdom of God, for it is in them. God once had a need to speak to us through His prophets as you will see in the following verse. “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” (Hebrews 1:1,2) The truth of the matter is that God has poured out His Spirit upon the earth and it is being manifested in many different people of all different ages and in all the world. Prophesies are coming to pass. Revivals are happening and people are being set free in the name of Jesus. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said in the Mormon church. Amen.
We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
One of the most ridiculous teachings in Mormonism is their belief in New Jerusalem being built in America, namely Independence, Missouri. What they don’t realize is that the New Jerusalem will come down from the heavens, not built by man. There has also been a prophecy by Joseph Smith that was been considered false about it being built while he was alive. And still, we see this article of faith that reads, “we believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.” (The Articles Of Faith) Notice that everything mentioned here relies upon New Jerusalem being built in America, namely Independence, Missouri. Does the Bible teach This? No. And not even Joseph Smith thought that Jesus would return in our time, but in his. It was on September 22 and 23, 1832, that Joseph Smith prophesied of a temple in Missouri, which would be built in his generation and dedicated by him also. This, he called the New Jerusalem. We will read this supposed revelation but first read about New Jerusalem coming down from heaven as John saw in Revelation. This is contained in Revelation, chapter 21.
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. e that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:1-8)
Joseph Smith recorded, “a revelation of Jesus Christ unto his servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and six elders, as they united their hearts and lifted their voices on high. Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the restoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his prophets, and for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem. Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased. Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation.” (Doctrines and Covenants 84:2-4) Did this happen? No. The truth of the matter is that the location is not to be speculated when the Bible is silent on this topic. This is why Mormons get so much wrong about this city, not a temple. Unfortunately, they continue to teach that New Jerusalem will be built by man, which is false. Amen.
We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
Mormons like to say that they believe that all men have the privilege of worshipping however they want. How they will not interrupt people who believe or worship differently. This is not only speaking of people who worship false gods, but Christians who are already saved through their faith in Jesus. Here is that belief, “we claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.” (The Articles Of Faith) But do they really believe this? No. Instead, they send their missionaries out in all the world, in order to stop the worship of anything and everything that does not jive or fit within their belief system. And they wouldn’t dare speak evil of those who believe in many gods, for they do the same. Even if the Bible is clear that those who believe in and worship other gods are idolaters, whereas those in Christ worship only one God.
Paul taught, “but if any man love God, the same is known of him. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” (1 Corinthians 8:3-6) We are called by God to expose every false way in order to lead people to Jesus, not to keep people in sin. This is what Paul told Timothy to do also. He said, “preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.” (2 Timothy 4:2,3)
Notice how Paul calls out people who believe in other gods, where He taught that real believers worship only one God, not many. How we are to preach and exhort people of other faiths to stop their pagan worship and repent and come to Jesus. We even reprove and rebuke them as Paul taught for not heeding what the Bible says nor listening to God. They say this, but still they send their missionaries out in all the world in order to lead people like this into their saving view in Mormonism. So do Mormons simply allow others to believe the way they want without intervening? No. So are they lying when they say that they allow everyone the privilege of worshipping however way they want? Yes. Interesting that they have not taken down this belief on their official site. Should they take it down? Yes. Otherwise, they remain a liar while interrupting worship, especially those in Christianity. They do this every time they knock on our doors and say we are wrong and need to convert to Mormonism. And so we expose their false doctrines and lies. Amen.
We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
The 12th Article Of Faith in Mormonism sounds good on paper, but when examining it, we see many different issues with this belief. It reads, “we believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.” (The Articles Of Faith) What we see here are no ifs, ands, or buts. It is clear that we are to obey people of authority no matter what. This is in contrast to what the Bible teaches. Paul taught, “but them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work.” (Titus 3:1) So what reasons do we obey the laws of the land? If they are for our good. Otherwise, to disobey a person of authority that is corrupt is warranted. For example, look at the times of Hitler in Germany. No Christian should’ve been confined to the orders of these Nazi tyrants. However, in looking at the beliefs in Mormonism, they wouldn’t have done a thing when it comes to Hitler, but simply obeyed every evil and corrupt order the Nazis made.
Jesus taught that us having a sword to protect ourselves is important. “And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:35,36) This was to protect themselves when the government is out of order. This is what Jesus’s disciples taught also. “And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:27-29) Therefore, don’t give heed to this false belief in Mormonism, but only obey authorities if good works come forth also. Obeying God comes first. Amen.
We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
The 13th Article of Faith reads, “we believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.” (The Articles Of Faith) On Paper, this statement of faith sounds Biblical. However, this is until we look at it by way of what this church is doing. For example, when they say the phrase, “believe all things”, they mean to say that they believe everything their prophets tell them, even if it contradicts the Bible. Therefore, what their church teaches trumps what God’s Word says. So you got to be careful when Mormons quote this verse, for it doesn’t mean what you think it is. For example, if Christians say, we “believe all things”, we mean all things that the Bible teaches, not what man may say. This is in stark contrast to what Mormonism teaches. People fail us in this life, but God and His Word will never fail us. Trust in Jesus!
When I read their article of faith, it makes me think of 1 Corinthians, chapter 13. In particular, these verses. “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.“ (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) Notice how their article of faith quotes parts of these verses. You can see this in the words in bold above. Notice how Christians endure all things, while Mormons hope to endure all things. This means enduring in our faith in Jesus until the end of our life, even if it means having a bullet put in our heads because of persecution. Notice how in Mormonism, they hope to do everything they can in order to be saved, while in Christianity, we rely solely on Jesus for salvation and not our own works. The truth is, God’s Word is not trusted in the Mormon church but men’s words. Enduring in their faith in Jesus alone is not done either. They are not to be trusted. Amen.
