“Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” (John 14:8-11)
Not once did Jesus ever say that He is the Father in the Bible. The only thing that He said was that people can see the Father when they look at Him. Many people confuse what Jesus meant when He said this. That is why we will break down John 14, verses 8 through 11 now. First off, Jesus said that when you see me, you see the Father. How is this possible, if they are separate persons and not the same? It means that the Father is with Jesus, not that Jesus is the Father. Jesus explained this, and said that the Father’s Spirit dwells inside His body, making the Father Spirit. Because this is the case, Jesus is led by the Father in everything He does. Having the Father’s Spirit with Jesus explains how the trinity works. We have the Father’s Spirit dwelling in the Son, and the Holy Spirit dwelling in humans. They all work together in perfect unity as one God. This one God is made up of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, although they are not the same person. How interesting that the Book of Mormon teaches an entirely different story, therefore corrupting the Bible narrative.
Instead of the Father and Son being different persons, they are the same person. This is called the oneness theology. Here is just one example of this teaching. “Behold, I am he who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem my people. Behold, I am Jesus Christ. I am the Father and the Son. In me shall all mankind have life, and that eternally, even they who shall believe on my name; and they shall become my sons and my daughters.” (Ether 3:14) So there you have it. No longer is the Father a different person than Jesus, His Son. This is a false teaching called Modalism. Where the Father is manifest in the Son. Although Christians know this teaching to be false, Mormons don’t care that the teaching exists in their Book of Mormon. They say that modern day revelations from their false prophets trump even what that book says. Instead, they believe in the Godhead doctrine, where the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit make up three Gods. This is heresy. One day the Mormon people will learn that there is only one true God in the heavens on judgment day. Amen.
