What was added to in Revelation 12:12 when comparing the Joseph Smith Translation (JST) with the King James Version Bible (KJV)? The phrase, “and after these things I heard another voice, saying” (JST), was added in. This removes the fact that this was a continuous voice from the heavens that started with Revelation 12:10 that says, “and I heard a loud voice saying in heaven…” (KJV) So who was this other voice if not the same voice in verse 10? No one, for it doesn’t exist in scripture. You see what happened? We now have a person speculating on what really happened in the events of this chapter saying that a different Person or Angel was speaking. So what was removed in this verse? The phrase, “and of the sea” (KJV), was removed and replaced with, “yea, and them who dwell upon the islands of the sea.” (JST) So instead of everything in the sea, Joseph changed it to people who dwell on Islands in the sea. Is sea the same thing as islands in the sea? Absolutely not. But still we see Mormons trusting in Joseph Smith, even though he added to and took away from the Bible in over 3410 places. See below for more details of what was changed in Revelation 12:12…
Revelation 12:12 (KJV)
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
Revelation 12:12 (Joseph Smith Translation)
12 “Therefore rejoice, O heavens and ye that dwell in them.” And after these things I heard another voice, saying, “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, yea, and them who dwell upon the islands of the sea! For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
What happens when someone adds to the Bible? God will add to these people the plagues that are written in the Book of Revelation. In death, if God’s wrath is upon us, we are unsaved and will be in trouble come judgment day. This means that we will wake up in hell, just like the rich man did in Luke 16:19-31. And what happens when someone removes from the Bible? God will take away the person’s part out of the book of life. Imagine hearing this from Jesus that your name is not found in the Lamb’s book of life and hearing the words, “I never knew you”, “depart from me”. This would be horrifying in the least. They cannot enter the holy city. Now imagine being shut out of New Jerusalem and never being able to experience the new earth and new heaven. This would be so terrible. The blessings written in this book will not apply to them. This means that all that is left is damnation and condemnation in the lake of fire, which is the second death. All this applies to Joseph Smith, who added to and took away from the Book of Revelation. Anyone who doesn’t see this needs to reread Revelation 22:18,19 and Revelation 20:12-15. Read below for more details…
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18,19)
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:12-15)
