The Book of Mormon is full of plagiarisms from the Bible. This is very clear with the chapters in Isaiah that were copied and pasted in this book as fillers. What Mormons do not realize is that words were removed and added to in this process also. For example, the word, “not”, is added in many different places where it shouldn’t. For example in the case of Isaiah, chapter 3, we learn of a woman who just conceived a son. This son would have the knowledge to cry, my father and my mother, however, in 2 Nephi, chapter 18, it says the baby would not do this. Isaiah reads, “Moreover the Lord said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz. And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the Lord to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz. For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.” (Isaiah 8:1-4) Changing what this baby would say, also changes the story and makes what happened nonsense.
It is now time to examine the passages from Isaiah, chapter 8, which was copied and pasted into 2 Nephi, chapter 18, but really words were purposely changed. See for yourself as you read the words in bold. More specifically, look at the new phrase that says, “not have knowledge to cry, my father, and my mother”, concerning the baby. It is written, “Moreover, the word of the Lord said unto me: Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen, concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz. And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah. And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived and bare a son. Then said the Lord to me: Call his name, Maher-shalal-hash-baz. For behold, the child shall not have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, before the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.” (2 Nephi 18:1-4) And so the story changes concerning the son of this woman. Who will the Mormons now believe, their Book of Mormon or the Book of Isaiah? They can’t both be right. This is evidence of plagiarism in the Book of Mormon, and also makes Joseph Smith a liar and a false prophet. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people in Mormonism will repent of their false beliefs. They believe things that are contrary to Your sight and this is because of their family traditions. You have shown me, God, that if we are born and raised to know something is true it can take a lot for us to unlearn the lies. This was true for me, also, Lord. As I was raised in the Mormon church I thought I had it all. The one true church, a marriage that was sealed for all eternity, a family who I would be with after this life, and many other blessings from the temple. This felt good for many years until You began to speak the truth to my heart. Little by little, I began to read the Bible like a child, and at this point the things I was raised up to know and believe no longer made any sense. You taught me through the Bible that there is no marriage in heaven. How the wicked will have their portion in the lake of fire come judgment day. You helped me understand that I may not see people in my family again after this life because of their poor choices. How I will not be married to my wife in heaven, but know her and my children if they are also saved. Thank You for opening my eyes to the truth. I am so grateful. I love You, Jesus. Amen.
