An obvious contradiction in the Book of Mormon is in 2 Nephi, chapter 29. We hear the false god of this book say, “and because my words shall hiss forth—many of the Gentiles shall say: A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible.” (2 Nephi 29:3) “thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?” (2 Nephi 29:6) The very fact that these verses supposedly come from 559 to 545 BC prove the Book of Mormon false. How is this? Because the term Bible was even used until around 360AD, when the Bible was first canonized. Sure, Mormons like to use these verses to prove their need for extra-Biblical books and to counteract the Christian beliefs of sola scriptura. What they don’t realize is that they have just proven their own precious book false in using them. Again, I will say that term Bible was not used for centuries later. The Bible was not called this before the canonization happened, but a collection of books. As for those books, “every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” (Proverbs 30:5) Praise God! His Word has come together in the form of the Bible.
I got the facts about the term ‘Bible’ and when it was first used. In my research, I stumbled upon a Catholic site that had my answers. It reads, “the Council of Laodicea (360 A.D.), with the permission of the Pope in Rome, produced the first canon of the Bible. But it is only in the year of Pope Damasus (367 A.D.) a great effort was done to form a Bible. This Holy Pope compiled the books which he felt genuine and ordered St. Jerome to translate them into Latin, which was the official language of the Church. St. Jerome went to Jerusalem and lived 30 years in a cave to do the job. At 397 A.D., he finished his works and presented it to the Pope. This is known as ‘Latin Vulgate.’ Pope Siricius called it the ‘Bible,’ which means ‘collection of books.’” (Know The Catholic Truth) Now please note that I am not Catholic, but know that knowledge is found in many different places. Praise God for the internet. And now Mormons have to do something with this knowledge. They can either give up their false beliefs and resign from their church, while coming to Jesus, or continue what they know now and die in their sins. Who will make the right decision to leave what is comfortable in life to follow Jesus? I will. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, help us make the right choices when the truth is presented to us. Although our current lifestyle may feel more comfortable staying in it, people are missing out on salvation when they disregard Your truths. It should not matter if people in our families stop talking to us because of our new faith in You, Jesus. You have said that some families have to be divided because of Your truth. I also feel it important to lead people out of their false beliefs. Some people think that if they were to leave their church their spouse would leave them, and to be married is better than divorce. They say that You would never want to split up their family. Lord, why is it that people have made up a God to fit their own beliefs instead of getting Your truths from the Bible? Mormonism is one of these cults that have millions of people trapped in it. They cannot see it this way, but in reality, they are following man-made teachings that don’t lead to heaven. Lord, You have led me to speak to hundreds of Mormons over these years. Many of them are LDS missionaries. I do not know all the fruit of these labors, but You do. I pray that many of them have renounced their false beliefs and come to You, Jesus, for salvation. I love You. Amen.
