Do people give praise to God or give praise to men? And should this even be a question in our minds? Absolutely not. So what side are you on? If you are a Christian, I would hope that you praise Jesus, who is Lord, and our God, and never a person on earth. However, if you are a Mormon, I unfortunately cannot say this, for your hymnbook tells a different story. This is because in those pages there is a song called, “Praise To The Man“. Now, right away there should be red flags, for we begin to see idol worship in the form of people instead of God. So for you to understand how evil this song really is, we will now look at the lyrics.
Praise To The Man Lyrics (bolding words and phrases that are so sinful and blasphemous to God:
“Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer. Blessed to open the last dispensation, Kings shall extol him, and nations revere. Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain. Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer the hero again. Praise to his mem’ry, he died as a martyr; Honored and blest be his ever great name! Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins, Plead unto heav’n while the earth lauds his fame. Great is his glory and endless his priesthood. Ever and ever the keys he will hold. Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom, Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old. Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven; Earth must atone for the blood of that man. Wake up the world for the conflict of justice. Millions shall know “Brother Joseph” again.”
All I can say is wow, oh wow, and in a bad way! Now, to get to the issues. The Mormon church is praising Joseph Smith twice, giving him honor, calling him blessed, they extol and revere his great name. They say hail to Joseph Smith, for he is their hero, of whom mingles with Gods. Wow, so also they like how much of an idolator he was? And it gets worse. They say that His glory and priesthood is great and never-ending, of which he will receive his crown. What the? Do they not realize that endless is Jesus’s priesthood and not Joseph’s? Speaking of Jesus, Paul said, “by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.” (Hebrews 7:22-24) To say this about a man and not Jesus is straight out blasphemy. And to say that the earth will atone for His blood is blasphemy to what Jesus did on the cross. So yes, many people will know that Joseph Smith is spending all eternity in the lake of fire, once judgment day hits. This is the truth. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that we will begin to focus more on You than anything else. Then, will our desires and intentions be based on what You want for us and not what we want. Even now do I come to You and ask that You make Your home in my life. Have Your way in me and lead me on the path of righteousness. I don’t wish to go to the left or right, but straight forward towards You. Don’t let the influences of the world or Satan take hold of my life. I love You more than anything this flesh needs, covets, or lusts for. Lord, I wish that every person could learn to praise You and not man. You are my greatest delight and I wish that every person could see You the way I do now. You are so good God, and I love it when You move in my life. Endless is Your priesthood, not ours. You hold the crown of glory, not us. I extol, bless, and revere Your name, not any other. One day, every person will know who You are in judgment and fall down on their knees in worship You, Lord. I wish this would happen in this life, but instead, people will learn the hard way that You are God, Jesus. You stand supreme above us all. I love You. Amen.
