If you wish to live a life that pleases God, then look no further than Philippians, chapter 4, in the Bible. It is here that Paul instructs the church on how they ought to be living, as well as seek after in our day-to-day life. To begin, Paul said, “therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord. And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:1-4) You can add sisters to brethren above. God is speaking to every person who is on His holy and righteous path right now. Paul mentions a crown that we will receive in the end after our life is done, but only if we stand fast in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And as we grow in the Lord, God will help us have the same mind as others in the faith, where bickering and arguments will be of the past. Every person who believes in Jesus is also born again in the Holy Spirit. These are those who are forgiven by the blood of Jesus, which was shed for us on the cross. And praise be to God for writing our names in the book of life. We don’t deserve it, but through God’s grace we are saved.
Paul also taught us and said, “let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:5-8) Our actions are known before others, that is why we need to always be on our guard against the evil one. Then, can we also live a life holy unto God. Where we focus our time on prayer and supplication unto God, who we love and give thanks. Even Bible study is an everyday occurrence now, for His Words are a lamp unto our feet. God’s peace is over such people who look to Him in faith on a daily basis. Now, as Paul said, look to things in life that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. You can’t go wrong when following after such things, for they are of God. God is love and you will find Him in many things you do and find in this world. Just seek His hand and you will be led by Him instead of our flesh and the evils of this world.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, we rejoice just to know You. To have You in our lives is more special than anything we will ever know. Because You are alive and our God also, this means that You do care so much for our lives. We are not just sitting idly by worshipping an idol, but worshipping the God of the heavens, of whom is really listening and acting upon our prayers. Yes, God, I rejoice and give thanks to my king. I am not worthy to even be in Your presence, but because You have shed Your blood for my sins, Jesus, I am forgiven. Thank You, Lord. Thank You, God. I pray that You will forever lead me by the hand. And not just me, but my family also. Help each one of us find You in our own way. I do know that my youngest loves to pray over the food, so help her grow in this desire to know You, God. And help my oldest daughter find even more time for You outside of our family Bible studies. Lord, I need my children to be a light in the school they attend, and as they grow up and have their own family one day. And may my wife find more time for You. She means the world to me, as You do, God, and I pray that she will grow in the Lord as I grow in the Lord also. Help us to grow together with You as a family in the faith. May our minds be fixed on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. These good things come from Your hands. Thank You. I love You. Amen.
